This is a month of remembrance, of history, of pain, struggle, glory, and triumph.. I'd like to start a thread with an Afrocentric point of view of the modern African diaspora movement, our history, and our future.. I'd like to start with history, reclaiming Egypt as this is but one of many efforts to suppress Africa's role in civilization, humanity, and over all history.

Above all because there is absolutely no reason why there shouldn't be one.. It is appropriate that there be a reasonable amount of time put into the reflection of diasporic Africa's history and global consciousness.. We are the product of slavery and racism over countless years of practice, and it is devoid of sense to assume that there is no obligation towards people of African descent..

Not to mention how this affected trade/economics, identity, self-esteem, self-hate, and an overall disposition. Imo this shouldn't even be a question, Native Americans in Northern Canada received almost 250,000 Sq. Acres in reparation, those in America are tax free, nearly sovereign, and have Casinos among other programs to generate income, and the Jewish community benefited greatly from the holocaust.

This, yet we can't have our own month, at least in recognition of what was done and for the "system", not any particular individual, to take some sort of responsibility? But this is also a month to reflect upon underrated black achievement, culture, and history. I believe that a "Black History Month" is beyond appropriate.

“Black History” needs to be made an integral part of the national consciousness and education system. Yet, is it possible that, while intentions are good, it actually does less to accomplish this goal because it has its own designated month?

Does relegating black history to a single month (the shortest month) actually short change black history? (causing people to quote FBI stooges, looking at you Parkboyz, or just gleam over its depth just to focus on MLK and Booker T) Does it make it harder for people to grasp the significance of the many contributions black people have made to the U.S.?

Is a black history month any kind of replacement for reparations? Is a history month really comparable to Jewish reparations? Or is a history month reparations enough?

I don't see the logic in that statement.. How can any step forward in a positive direction be considered "doing less" to accomplish an ultimate goal?

F.B.I Stooge? You read too many Ann Coulter articles bro, miss me with the conspiracy. Ultimately it was a reflection of truth, history in words. For you to question the motives of such a glorious time of celebration shows arrogance and a lack of understanding.. For you to reduce its focus on just but a few great men like "MLK" and "Booker T" is to ignore the great depth of history among diasporic Africa in America.. Of even more importance (imo) is the contributions of those like W.E.B Du Bois, Fredrick Douglas (Of whom Black History Month was founded), Marcus Garvey, and fuck it, even Nat Turner. If for now all we get is a month, or 28 days to commemorate them, so be it, that's one step closer, why complain?

Of course not, which is my point. We have a month each year to remind people of these issues..
