With only a few releases left in the year, and most of the most anticipated releases already out, would you say that Hip Hop has had a good year in 2006 ?

it was a bad year but I don't pay much attention to this anymore because it was just another bad year, definitely not worse than 2005 and 2004, (not counting sales)

no year was good this decade

Compared to the last few years, id say YES.

Look at the albums that have dropped this year. And im talkin mainstream shit.Alot of good stuff,IMO.

I'm gonna have to agree with you. And honestly the thing with me is, I wouldn't measure the success of a year by looking at how much ' garbage ' music was put out, because I feel like there is and always will be music that we aren't gonna like.

Instead, I base my opinion on how much good music that I actually got, and I have to say that this year, I definitely got my money's worth.

I'd say compared to past couple years there have been a lot of better releases this year.

But I'd still say overall no.
I agree, it hasnt been all bad though. I think this year people have started to get fed up with all the bullshit in the mainstream and are starting to turn to more creative music (ie Lupe Fiasco's CD, and with Nas, Jay-Z and Cube making a staement on the industry. I think this trend will continue next year...

This, more or less, is why I think Hip Hop records in general haven't been moving as many units as we have in the past, with artists going platinum their first week, and selling pop record numbers in the multi-millions. People are starting to grow tired of all of the BS.

I say yes.....of course there were shitty albums put out, but thats always....there were some REAL GOOD albums put out this year (Lupe, Roots, Outkast, TI, E-40, Clipse, etc.....) I think hip hop is starting to get better again (finally).....of course, there are alot more artists coming out with alot more nonsense, but thats always. I'd compare this year to any other year in the 2000's, and I'd have to say this was a good year

as a whole i dont think there was a huge amount of good albums. but the ones that were good were excellent...

tech n9ne-everready
outerspace-blood brothers
jedi mind-kings in hell
kenn starr-starr status
apathy-eastern philosophy
zion i and grouch-heroes in the city of dope
louis logic and jj brown-misery loves comedy
little brother-minstrel show
cunninlynguists-piece of strange
unknown prophets-the road less traveled
soul position-things go better....
people under the stairs-stepfather
mf grimm-american hunger
roscoe-i luv cali

those are the first ones but im sure i could go on longer...all these albums are some of my favorite albums of the year and some of the best i have heard in several years. they all still stand out in my mind and make me think this was a pretty damn good year...for what i listen to at least

i look at it from the perspective of how many albums from this year i am goin to be jammin in a year, 2 years, 5 years time, if theres been 5 or more cds like that then i consider it a good year.

I felt the Lynch and Eiht, The Product, the San Quinn, Cam'Ron still gets rotation from me, 40 Cal as well, theres been a bunch of Messy Marv releases ive liked, im feelin the Jay-Z, both the Z-Ro albums were tight to me even if one was unofficial, the Trae was tight, i like the sound of the Jeezy and of course Project Pat killed it, all in all its been pretty good.
