STIK GILATINE
im going to have to start posting the reviews on her, the PM function aint cool cause it maxes out at 1000 charaters...
i have not edited these review so excuse any typos...
Stik gilatine
Lois Lane
Beat start off very simplistic and builds up a bit, Stik comes in on the first verse with a bit of a higher pitched tone and a faster rap pattern, song seems to be about a female trying to be down wit em.
Hook is better than the 1st verse, the first verse was very simple and nothing special..actually it was kinda weak to me.
I like the concept..but this song just didnt do it for me..too much simplicity in the wordplay..."bye bye...fly high...fly guy...
dont thing i'd every be giving this song a second play.
Lifes a movie
first..song loses point for an overused title, I have heard 3 songs this year with that exact same title..worn out concept.
On to the music. Lyrically, Stik starts off flipping it pretty quick, this track is redemption for the first.
"hold up, Im gonna show you what game is..i can make you remember my name even if my name was nameless" Solid line right there. Stik comes tough on this one, beat is a banger...the whole "life is a movie" idea kills it a little. I'm convinced this guy has some potential after hearing this.
Fly individual
Beats comes on BUMPIN..my headphones is pounding on this one, great beat..Good song to smoke and ride too. Stik basically is giving an illustration of his gift of gab, Good word play blended into a somewhat hypnotic beat...
Destination Moon
on first take it sounded like a song about getting high....dude starting the song off slip right into the beats groove and rides it like a wave. THIS TRACK IS HARD...im wondering why i havent heard more folks talk about this dude. Beaty made me get up and twist another one up...
Go for mine
Where the fuck is that sample in the beginning from..I know that sound from somewhere but just cant think of it. An upbeat tempo that gets heads bobbin, Stiks raps bleed positivity all over the beat.
"as i sit back and ponder what i gotta write,
i watch the days wonder off into night...
i think about life a lot..
sometimes im oblivious, always caught in though..
my lady says "baby you think too much"..
that might be the case but i dont think i think enough"
a heartfelt track showing Stiks ambition, drive, and deep reflections on life, well done.
The production on this album is solid, some are somewhat lackluster but for the most part they are impressive. Stik spits heat regarding his life, his ambitions in music, and more. You can hear the hunger in this kids voice and he expresses it with well placed punchlines and easy going rap style. I can easily see myself poppin this album in the deck a few more times, good driving music..the beats on "ready to Go" is a fucking banger...just kill the autotune on the vocals.
"All night Flight" had me bobbin my head, lovin the beat...the lyrics could have been somewhat better thought..
"Off the roof" this song has some deeply involved production there, the beat takes you into the world of Stik...this could make a great video as the beat paints vivid pictures.
Conversations with god...dope concept, one of my favorite tracks, beat is platinum and the Stik eviscerates himself over a serious focused beat.
While some of Stik's songs were questionable, overall this album has a good feel to it, production that could rival most album todays. At times Stik switches his style to a higher pitch and speed that just sounds unnatural and he choosessimple rhymes" to end some bars. This dude definitely has natural rapping ability and musical talent. I believe this cat is from the 408, and if so, San Jo has a powerhouse in their corner with Stik Gilatine. I would recommend you pick up this album, the good track outnumber the bad and it has a strong replay value.
