The biggest track mistakes I've seen were on Prime Minister's cd. But off the dome I can recall D-Moe - Ghost Writer, Skee 64 (1st one), Gamblaz (3rd release - track #5 not mentioned), Guce (If It Ain't...), Dubee (Turf Matic) and many many others. I do pay much attention to tracklists, that's why I notice all them mistakes.

I've done about 50 cd layouts.....and I've fucked up on soemthing on about 20 of them....I think the MAIN reason
that errors are allowed through is TIME! I've had folks call and request a cover....I ask them if they are done with the music..they say NO but almost.......2 years later they call back and they are finished....they need a cover but wait.....
can I get it by Friday? It's wednesday......

I say sure.....but keep your type low....( shouts, Thanks, credits) that way I don't rush through it....they say okay..I'll e-mail it to ya....i then recieve a 26 page e-mail thnaking everyone including the local taqueria....it was okay to spend 2 years on the music but damn only give a guy 2 days on the graphics? Don't get me wrong..i've made bonehead mistakes.....but since when has Rap become intelligent...it's about the FUCKIN MUSIC.....they could of mispelled everything wrong on The Click's down & Dirty...I could care less....as long as the cd played...fuck it...I'm cool...and that's coming from soemone who design covers.....

the thread reads "with all the money...", guess it enough bread to break with the typesetter...

I heard of designer getting 250-350 dollars for a cd and simple double sided insert, however some of these projects take alot of photoshop tweaking and gathering of photo elements...you call a designer out of the phonebook and ask what the hourly rate is on something like that...the graphics ain't no different then the music...you want a $500 dollar beat then thats what ya gon get, want a pristine slapperr then ya gonna have to pay $3k and up, this includes logic/protools session files...whats sad is alot of these designers are talented...like the cat who did Turfs Colabilation, Shemp, and others ain't gettin what they need and/or should get for the work...I know designers with half the talent, who put together bull shit brochures, simple logos, websites and charge between 5k-15k...thats right 5k-15k, they really eating(can't knock the hustle)...I advise those catz I mentioned to put a portfolio together and get them to some ad agencies that do business in the clothing industry, music etc and get that 80-100 dollar hour gig...this would a least allow them the opportunity to hire on a typesetter to proof all copy...hum!

I know I know...I mispelled some shit....but point made...I only had a few moments to type...my boss was on the way..

Rene
ha, ha...thats true, you need to have simple contracts written up about that where you charge a percentage fee on all 24 to 48hr request, trust me I get the same shit, it seems most don't respect the art and/or have no understanding of the process...alot of folks budget is pretty much exhausted and thats why artwork and graphics get the rush rush...!

Dame you right, if the Music Was Really Slappin then you can't say shit about a couple of copy typo's...

It is not a graphic designers job to check for this kind of shit. I work with graphic designers all day and most of em can't spell to save their life... The graphics still have to get approved right?

The music is what matters, but unless I know who you are I'm not going to take something that looks like shit very seriously.
