Well I think everyone should updated on this....
Windows Media Player 11

Quicktime Player

Realplayer

Download the Beta, it has a video downloader with it that can record ALMOST anything.
VLC Media Player
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
DivX Codec
http://www.divx.com/
K-Lite Codec Pack
http://www.free-codecs.com/K_Lite_Codec_Pack_download.htm
Download those and you should be able to play anything ONLINE & OFFLINE.
It may seem a lot of trouble, but once have everything down, you don't even need to update it yourself.
All those programs have auto update. Quicktime has Apple software update which is an application that checks for all your Apple products, meaning Itunes, quicktime, etc.
The only thing you have to update yourself is the Codec Pack.
