you need to buy an extra dvd player which connects to the 360

the 360 alone wont play them hd dvds

and it makes me think what is the fucking point you could just buy a proper hd dvd player

but hd dvds are not even made any more

That HD DVD add on is only like $20, and HD-DVD movies can be found for around $5 at the most.

There isn't a great selection or anything, but there are some gems on HD-DVD.
Hell yeah, i picked up hd player for like 50 bux a couple years ago and found a bunch of hd dvd's dirt cheap. It's good to have if you just wanna pick up a bunch of older movies that you would buy on blu ray anyways. In the long run it's worth it I think.

@LEMON WILL THE HD DVD PLAYER PLAY ON A NON-HD TV? CUZ I WANT TO BE ABLE TO PLAY IT ON MY LCD AND MY REGULAR TV.

AND WHERE CAN I GET IT FOR $ 20?

ALSO, WOULD IT HELP TO GET A HDMI CABLE, OR MAYBE A BETTER CABLE IF THERE IS ONE,

... wait.

You don't have a hdtv?

Stick with your DVD player. It will play on a SDTV, but it won't be in HD.
I remember seeing them for $20 on cheapassgamer a few months ago. It was a clearance at one of the big stores, probably Target or Sears.
NAH BRO. I HAVE A HD TV, AND A REGULAR ONE TOO. I JUST NEEDED TO KNOW THAT AND IT WOULD BE COMPATIBLE WITH BOTH. AND FROM WHAT YOURE SAYING, IT CAN BE PLAYED ON BOTH, CORRECT? SDTV=STANDARD DEF, RIGHT?

there are lots of deals for HD DVDs online, since theyre trying to get rid of all their stock. if there are movies you always watch its a good idea to buy the HD DVD add on for $40 then hella movies for dirt cheap.

The HD-DVD add-on is also one of the better upscalers for regular DVDs.

We have a 61" TV and watch DVDs using the HD-DVD add-on and they look pretty good.

YOU COULD GET HD-DVDS AT FRYS FOR LIKE 4-10 DOLLARS DEPENDING ON THE MOVIE
Hell yeah, I love that place. We don't have Frys over in CT so when I go back to Vegas in a month I'm def gonna hit them up again because the prices are probably cheaper now than a year ago when I was getting them for 8-10 dollars.
