I think its because all the European ethnicities have cultural differences that are passed on to their kids. Italians eat, speak, act, dress different than French, English, Spanish, Irish, whatever. For most black people, they don't know what country they come from since all their culture was destroyed. You find a group of black guys, its not like one is gonna say he's from Ghana and another one is a Rwandan Tutsi and another one is from South Africa...cuz they don't know. They don't know where they're from, what their culture was, anything like that, so they just say black.

I remember when I was in Cali talking to my cousin's wife. She got hella offended when I said I like Asian food, since out here most Asian restaraunts serve Chinese food and Sushi and Pad Thai at the same restaraunt. She was like out here "Asian" doesn't cut it, cuz we got Chinese, Japanese, Filipino, whatever that hang onto their ethnicity.

I'm Irish/Cherokee... and have my Cherokee Nation Tribal Card. I agree some people take labels too far, but sometimes people forget all-together about their ancestors culture. That seems like a lot of lost knowledge over a period of time.

a lot of people have no clue that there's a difference between race, ethnicity, and nationality.

my race is white, my ethnic background is.... hella european shit that i won't bother to explain unless somebody specifically asks, and my nationality is american.

people often ask about "nationality" when they really want to know about race or ethnic background.

White people in the U.S. have no ethnic U.S. background. So there is a 100% chance that you're going to get an answer of something other than the United States. This country is an ethnic melting pot and for anyone to be surprised that someone has multiple ethnic backgrounds is pretty ignorant. I would be much more surprised to find someone who is 100% German.

no race is pure these days... give it another few hundred years, & it will be even more mixed.

Sicilians do not refer to themselves as 1/2 Italian 1/2 Moore
Mexicans do not refer to themselves as 1/2 Spanish 1/2 Mayan/Aztec
So on & so forth...

there is very few pure bloodlines these days.

Myself, I am a whiteboy... but 1/2 Italiano & 1/2 Irish to get technical.

but Ill stick to WHITE.

WHEN PEOPLE ASK ME WHAT RACE OR NATIONALITY I AM...

I SIMPLY RESPOND... "I AM AN AMERICAN SIR... I AM AN AMERICAN"

thats the only thing we know and thats the only thing we can say, even tho i hate this country and the evil people who run it
