Why do you like or not like mainstream hip hop?


me its a LOVE/HATE situation...I do like mainstream..and i like it cause i always know its professionally mixed down and the beat'll be kickin like my breath in the morning...i know that most of all the time the lyrics will be coo...but ofcourse theres alot that I don't like about it...such as..groupies...people that dont even understand the muzik but just like it cause someone else does feel me? hence (Most of 2pac fans)....


i guess people are hypocrites when it comes to liking or not liking mainstream because its also a support issue...

like to me E-40 is mainstream...n we all love him and support him cause hes from here...

and Baby Bash is mainstream as well..and likewise...feel me?


so what yo ass like or not like about MAINSTREAM?

i rarely like mainstream rap at all. The only shit i've been able to get into lately has been LIL FLIP and LIL JON shit, but not even all the lil jon shit. LIL FLIP is just funny to me, it hasn't gotten old yet to me. E-40 usually has some coo videos, and that boys a fool, he's always funny to watch. But, i hate the radio with a passion! The only radio shit i listen to is like some old school type funk shit. Even the r&b stations just play pop, so i can't bump that neither.

To answer the question, I hate the bullshit lyrics that just appeal to teenage girls, and the repetitive catchy ass hooks. Even if the song is good, it's not good for any longer than 2 weeks because they ruin it.

The only songs i've really heard that have been played way too much, but i still like em is some CASH MONEY songs, and DAMN by the youngbloodz. There are a few others, but for the most part the radio ruins it for me if i even liked the song at all

Mainstream is all I listen to when I actually listen to rap. Too many boo boo ass rappers out there in the underground that think they're the next big shit. Mainstream music is MUSIC, it's all about entertainment and expression of more than just "I'm gonna murder you you fuckin bitch that's what you get for lookin at me crosseyed" type shit. Yea, a lot of mainstream cats aren't out doin dirt, but that's because they know they have it made, they don't have to do stupid shit anymore...

I listen to both mainstream and underground shit!!! I don't care where tha artist is from, if their shit knocks then I'll listen to it.

But what I find funny on this board is how a lot of cats talk shit about tha mainstream and tha eastcoast, and some of those same fools will defend Eminem and stick up for him whenever his name is brought up. I'm not trying to turn this into another Eminem thread, it's just something I've noticed on here.

And it don't matter to me what coast your from, if your shit knocks, then I'll bump it.
