It's definitely a northern california thing...been to LA numerous times...and nobody says it. They automatically knew I was from here just cause I use it.

Hmmmm....i heard a different story from a So Cal head..old school skate boarder/surfer who told me that word has been around since the early 80's maybe the late 70's in So Cal that was around the punk rock crowd.

yeah, its been a prevalent term in Punk Rock culture since I started listening to the stuff in around 98', but probably long before I got into the scene. I think I actually read the term in a NOFX cd booklet a few years back. I always just figured it as another word that accentuates or emphasizes statement.

Whatever stupid fucking people that guy quoted off Wikipedia are crackpots who stumbled across this term and thought "we need to write a few intelligent paragraphs dictating for certain the etiology of this term amongst the peoples who use it in their every day language!!!"

In all reality I'm sure its just a Cali thing that spread out, especially after the South Park episode.

Search the etiology or origins of all kinds of slang words and Im sure you'll get all kinds of people with PhD's who are culturally ignorant trying to over complicate simple words.
