no, i would disagree. rap really fell off around 2000. underground rappers started adopting commercialized sounds, and the rest is history.

east co co doesnt sound nintendo-ish to me, they just use a good amount of synthesizer on top of a lot of their tones. the Northern Expozure comps had some of the sickest production ive heard out of the bay in the last few years. WAY better than most "hyphy/thizz" beats. Woodie's solo albums were the fuckin shit.
