The eclipse that took place on the 3rd March 2007 was the first of two lunar eclipses of 2007. It started at 20:18 UTC when the Moon entered the penumbral shadow. Just over an hour later at 21:30 UTC it entered the umbral shadow turning the moon from solid silver to blood red. The eclipse was at its peak between 22:44 and 23:58 UTC over Europe, Africa, parts of South America, some areas of North America, Asia and Western Australia. The second lunar eclipse will be on August 28. In North America, it was observed as it was ending.
