The thing is, as a 49ers fan, I didn't want them to draft Alex Smith. I was pulling for Aaron Rodgers. Last season the boy looked lost, but you gotta keep in mind the fact that he had nobody to turn to. The Niners' supposed #1 receiver (Arnaz Battle) was injured the majority of the season, Lloyd had trouble getting open when the focus is on him, his offensive line was beat the fuck down and only had two good players on it to begin with, there was no veteran figure at QB to show him the way, he was working with a first-year coach who is a defensive guy so that didn't help any, his offensive coordinator was a jackass, his RB was no threat until they finally put Frank Gore in there, and on top of all that he was only 21 years old!! None of the "great" QBs had that many obstacles in front of them their first season, and most still did a horrible job. I saw progress towards the end of the season last year and it began to put a little confidence in me. At times he made good decisions, but as a rookie they were few and far between. There's just no way I can bring myself to say he is going to be a terrible QB until things start to form for that offense and he has sufficient weapons and still sucks ass.
As for Collins, Tui, Walter.... There's no excuse there. Look at all the weapons they have! Moss, Porter, Jordan. Just those 3 should be enough. Shit, Moss alone should be enough. Feel me?
