Planted the news?

50 may have received 400 mill but do some research to find out what he PAID to get in on that investment...the profits are not as good as they sound.
Well, there is a rumor going around that he invested $4.1 billion, which is completely untrue, of course. The venture capitalists that provided funding for Energy Brands is LV Capital (and has a large stake in the company).
Glacéau is a brand name of products sold by Energy Brands, Inc. Energy Brands itself is not listed on an exchange. LV Capital's is the investment armh of Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA (aka LVMH) a French company.
It was originally reported that 50 Cent purchased 10% of the company in 2004. India’s Tata Group owns 30% of
Glaceau and will make $1.2 billion of the $4.1 billion purchase price. With that considered,
50 Cent stands to make roughly $400 million, which is his 10% of his ownership in the company.
While it is not known how much
50 invested originally, it is assumed that there will be a significant profit margin after all is said and done.
HOWEVER... In June, 2007, the company released the following statement:
Last week,
Vitamin Water was sold to
Coca-Cola inspiring many to announce that
Curtis "50" Jackson just got a whole lot more rich by simply having his stock sold as the company was acquired (
check out that story by CLICKING HERE). Well, in a stunning and not so stunning turn of events, the company that owns
Vitamin Water;
Glaceau released this statement:
While 50 Cent and many other world re-known celebrities have very lucrative and fruitful partnerships with our brand, any report stating personal figures of ownership in our company are erroneous at this time. Glaceau and Mr. Jackson have a deal in place that grants him partial ownership in his own brand. Both parties remain excited about the future of our relationship.
ProHipHop.com believes the story was erroneously reported and said,
"(Our) best guess has been that this is planted news from 50 Cent's camp which worked perfectly. AllHipHop runs the claim in a hip hop news item, it's immediately reprinted on all sorts of discussion boards and the like, gradually becoming disconnected from its origin and taking on a life of its own. As happened this weekend." Not to say that anyone made this up, but regardless, this is how the story got out of hand. (edit: I removed the stock information)
