Yo what up everyone the following is a brief review of what's to come from the upcoming Outkast album. They have been playing samples of the album all over Atlanta right now. I mostly heard these tracks from my cousin who is a DJ on hot 107.9 in Atlanta. As you know things are subject to change like the names or they scrap some of these songs or added more so these tracks are not final just giving yall a little insight i gave a brief description of each track below let me know of what yall think peace....
SPEAKERBOXXX/BIG BOI
“Do Dirty” – opening track, with killer mike. This is a hard, hard rock song think of the track "Gasoline Dreams" but with even more bass this will wake you up.
“Bow Tie” – with sleepy brown and jazzy pha. Kind of slinky, funk song. It’s about dressing up, getting pimped out. Jazzy sings the hook.
“Unhappy” – this one’s about relationships in general. It’s more testimonial style big boi raps, over layers of digital funk.
“Ghetto Musick” – No need to explain this one
“The Rooster” – sounds like live-band funk, but what gets me is big boi’s rapping, which is very conversational, storytelling, with all sorts of vocal inflections.
“The Way you Move” – No need to explain
“Tick Tick Boom” – ‘conspiracy’ theory song, where he talks about the real issues that the man keeps throwing out there (e.g., 9/11, iraq, liberia, election scandal, etc). it’s not nearly as engaging musically, though it’s got this sort of stuttering beat underneath. He wants you to listen to him rather then the beat on this one which is cool.
“flip flop rock” – No need to explain
“church” – about one’s relationship with ‘the creator,’ and sounding ‘churchy.’ It has this cool breakdown at the end that sounds like a baptist church throwdown.
“rats & roaches” – this song is really old i remember this awhile back this song is 7 years old, from the Atlien days, this was produced by Organized Noize. Both of their voices tell you it's dated but the music doesn’t sound dated
“reset” – with cee-lo and khujo. Khujo laid this down after his car accident. There’s a sample of a shaking spray-paint can and the song has a janky, noisy feel to it.
“last call” – party track. With slimm "cutta" calhoun, Lil’ Jon and Mello from parental advisory. This song has BIG BIG BEATS. Kinda rumbles. A banger.
“knowing” – on the hook and it sounds like a curtis mayfield song.
“speakerboxxx” – heavy, heavy bass features konkrete, big gipp and ludacris. This is gonna blow someone’s car speakers and pre-amps. I heard Big boi called this “Gangsta Shit Pt. 2”
THE LOVE BELOW/ANDRE 3000
“hey ya” – No need to explain
“love hater” – It’s got a full on jazz band playing underneath and dre singing over the top.
“she lives in my lap” – no need to explain
“prototype” – originally going to be the first single. They realized it was too slow to catch on. It’s a ballady, acoustic-guitar filled love song.
“spread” – prince-sounding and kinda moves quickly. Very melodic, cool vocal arrangement where the whole song sounds like it’s being played on 45 when it should be 33.
“take off your cool” – with norah jones. There’s no real song here, it’s just the two of them singing and playing.
“vibrate” – this takes the beat of “she’s always in my lap” and reverses it into a whole other song. no other effects, so there’s this weird time displacement thing which i can't explain in detail He has weird sounding vocals buzzing around underneath.
“my favorite things” – crunk instrumental version of coltrane’s rendition of ‘my favorite things’ from the sound of music. got a Jazz band playing the song but the drum rhythms are those ultra-fast, hard-hitting, dirty south sounds. This is hot
“she’s alive” – jazz-hip-hop type song.
“act like you want me” – another raw, prince-like sex song.
“pink & blue” – another prince-like sex song, this one about older ladies.
“roses” – about a gold digger named caroline.
