the reason why i asked who pushes the most units cuz i simplly wanted to know who was doing it out in the northwest im over in the bay area i dont know jack shit about whats going on up there id like a lil info cuz the only person i know of from up there is bullet and im sorry hes not tight at all.........

i also wanted this info cuz im workin on a lil project of my own and a feature from a major hitter from the north west could help me put cds up there cuz the chances of me beeing a indapendant artist with no name no matter how tight iam or not they aint gonna order shit from me cuz it wont sell for simple fact im not from there and no one has herd of me period but if i had a name on there there used to seeing they might swoop on it feel me?

another thing i can respect any man who has a passion for music but takin 6 months to sell a 1000 units is some i quit shit

and should people buy local music if it aint tight?just becuz its local you gotta break bread?fuck all that

My take on artist support is nothing is owed. Artists who have earned support, receive it. Just because somebody is able to slap an album together doesn't mean I'm obligated to buy it, like it, or even give it a listen. Supporting an artist is a choice, not a requirement and if an artist hasn't motivated people to support him, he hasn't done his job well enough.

I'm a firm believer that people get what they deserve and bad karma is never a reward.

A very insigtful post..... I quoted the above, in regards to supporting one artist or the other, because its some real food for thought..

..and I too am a firm believer in karma..

My perspective comes from years and years of being in the business as a successful musician, producer, songwriter, engineer and businessman. At this point most of my time is spent in the role of producer and executive. I've never been an artist but I work with them from complete unknowns all the way up to household names (in some cases, brand names). I'm somebody who actually eats off it to the point where music has paid for my house, my cars, my investiments, my lifestyle and feeds my family. I definately have a different perspective on things but I started out as and will die a fan with a true love for music.

And that there is what its all about... I have nothing but respect and admiration ...

1 album at 10k of course...but when all you got is the trunk for an outlet in a city where HATE runs rampid...its hard to hustle music...you of all people should know that Sick...this is your region too....i know why you did your music thing OUTSIDE the state...it would be nice if it were that easy...but you and i BOTH know how much "support" local artists get from radio stations or even music listeners...its pathetic...Seattle is a city that follows trends when it comes to just about anything and everything...

@ EW

Those number above aren't accurate. They are a little inflated, and this is something that I know for a fact. I have copies of some of these CD's sitting in my basement. Those are how many copies were manufactured of those projects. Let's be honest about our sales.

Here we go, and these are the honest numbers of what we have sold in the streets, distribution, and shows.

1996 Cool Nutz "Harsh Game For The People" 10,000
1998 Cool Nutz "Speakin Upon A Million" 5000
1999 Cool Nutz "Verbal Porn" PT. 1 3500
1999 Cool Nutz "Verbal Porn" PT. II(Short Run) 1500
2004 Cool Nutz "Collabos" 4000
1997 G-Ism feat. Cool Nutz "On A Mission" 3000
1997 Izaya "Da Next" 2500
1995 G-Ism Feat. Kenny Mack "Nuttin But Da Family" 1500
1998 Various "Western Conference All-Starz" 4000
1993 Cool Nutz "Playervision" Cassette single 1300
1993 Cool Nutz "Dis Niggaz Nutz" Cassette Album 500(all that was pressed)
1999 DBA "Doing Business As.." 7000
(pulled off of shelf after Universal deal)
1999 Maniac Lok "I'm Back" 2700

The first set of numbers are how many were pressed up of those albums... but sold? no. And the ones sold.. $11/each? no. $8/each? no. Try closer to $5/each and thats HIGH END... most were sold at closer to 3 for $10... some for $2.. with hundreds given away and/or sent out for promo/reviews.
#10- Juice hustled his own albums.. with some sold on CD Baby when Bullet attached it to his "I'll add my name to your album and add it to my resume" releases.

The second set of numbers.. again, thats how many were pressed not sold. J-Trey? .. they did hella shows in Iowa with tons of press and hustled off their own record. Todd G.? White Boy Will hustled those CD's.. as did Todd and several others. I know several people who still have stacks of these albums that they bought bulk at cost .. so yeah.. whatever..
