Part of rap is about talkin a big game...rap is one of the only styles of music where vocals and the person is more important than the music, the instruments, the band, whatever. And that puts it on the MC to come out with lyrics and a identity that people believe and not doubt you about.
For example Doggystyle the album snoop came so gangsta you ain't gonna question it. Folks wasn't rollin around checkin snoop credentials...game recognize game...they believed what he said. That's all rappin is.
