I'm was actually surprised to see other Dipset fans on here since I feel people only see them as "fake and mainstream".

I've been on Dipset for years and believe it or not, they are one of the groups that kept be interested in Hip hop (mixtapes were hot).

I'm just agreeing in all these Dipset threads kuz I support em. And this mainly being a West Coast forum, I think some people are missing good muzik (the ones that only listen to West Coast).

But no need to come at me sidewayz and say I'm someone else.

It makes me sick how folks change their minds so quick. Do a search in General Hip Hop forum for Gucci Mane and any thread from 2005-2006 is folks straight hatin him takin bout "Gucci is ass" and "gucci gettin raped in the ass in prison" and "this niggas garbage". All of a sudden his name gets spread around, he drops a couple hot albums and everyone on his nuts like herpes.

Same with killa and the dips. People always talkin about "I only like the beats" or "I dont fuck wit the dips cuz they dont fuck wit heatmakerz anymore" or "I only like rell and writer cuz they lyrical". When cam leaks a couple singles to the streets, the loyal fans are diggin it...and then all the sqaure ass haters from before switch it up talkin about "Oh cam is that nigga" and "this is hot *pause* no homo". Call it how you want, Cam is just as lyrical but his style is different...listen closer...

I agree on the mixtape front. There's a lot of cats who sleep on the mixtape scene. In the early to mid 2000's the Dips were keepin new york and the whole east coast scene on lock with that classic mixtape series Volumes 1-5.....

Dont trip dog, people change minds all the time. I was primarily a NW to Bay area kat, wid some LA stuff in the mid 90's. Kinda faded away from that gangsta/mobb/thug shit kuz I felt it was all the same. Fukd around wid more rock and some backpack lyrical shit. I remember when Dipset came out, they had those radio hits and all. I went to NY and picked up a couple mixtapes and I couldnt believe how dope it was. Started to bump them frequent and my homies were feelin the beats and lyrics.

I think some artists grow on people when people look deeper (or should I say listen deeper).

Sometimes its the artists that improve their muzik and people start to enjoy that more.

Honestly, What I liked about old skool rap, was the struggle in their muzik.
Now most of hip hop is bragging and flash (which is just showing that they came up). But I did like when Master P was "tryna make a dollar outta 15 cents".

If ya talk about how broke you are or dont have a huge expensive chain or jewelz, seems like tons of muthafukaz klown you.

i see. I used to listen to a few artists and closed my ears to certain ones... but was never vocal about it. Sometimes for myself, I have to listen to their muzik and if its good, I'll become more interested in them.

I did this with Southern rap. I held a high standard for Southern artists and I felt they were not as good... but I judged to quickly. I feel old skool southern rap is better, but I cant really hate on the newer artists... except the ones with no content what so ever... sorry soulja boy.
