3X Krazy are legends as a group so that alone puts the east high on the scale , the luniz , DU, were/are vital to the east' rap scene too and I can't think of any group or solo artist from the west ,who's achieved what they've achieved musically ,

the groups I named got awards and shit for they're music , tha fact they have those awards don't make them the better side musically the fact that the west doesn't have a an act that lived up to that of the many factors of the east does

Like strizz says tho kinda unfair question tho, people who live / are from / or visit Oakland often would be better off answering this question they might hear things folks like me from the peninsula don't hear and vice versa

they wasnt that big tho breh. for the most part Saafir and them were big with the "back packers". a comparable (on some level) group is Hiero from the east and that was really no comparison on any level.

east O, in my opinion, is the best side as far as music goes, from back in the day. it aint fair cus most the O is east side but regardless, it dominated. i dont fuck with no one from Oakland musically now so i couldnt speak on that part. to me all that new shit sounds the same no matter were your from.

Yea true. I was trying to think of big West Oakland rappers in the 90's but I was coming up blank... that was the only name I could think of. Its strange because West Oakland is the side with the most history... its to Oakland what Fillmore is to Frisco for black music in general so its interesting that the East dominated Oakland rap between the 80's and the 90's so much.

I mean which side in your opinion has contributed the most to the Oakland scene. I don't think that's an impossible question. If your answer is that they all have equally then say it's a tie. It's not a big deal to me anyway... made this thread to see what the siccness thought. If they think that they all contributed equally then I got my answer. I think it's more of a compliment than anything to how strong Oakland is musically that it has three extremely musically active sides of it. Other cities aint like that... for example damn near all the rappers from Chicago are from South Side. Saying that it's because all three sides of Oakland have hoods in em aint accurate either... plenty of hood cities across America aint shit music-wise.
Twista/Speedknot Mobstas, Do or Die, Crucial Conflict, PsychoDrama, Snypaz, Triple darkness, and a bunch of other rappers all from the Westside of Chicago. Thats where you get the fast rappin from.
Lot of mufuckas come from Southside Chi too though.
