First off know ya facts...Mac Dre was hot before he went to jail..so hard for the radio was gettin radio spins when the radio wasnt playing bay music..he was bout to get signed..then got that bid

second Vallejo aint a square ass city...theres squares there like anywhere..even Oakland !! whats squarish is to type that shit nowing damn well you aint saying it in that what u called square ass city..but thats the luxury of the internet...its kinda like a new age witness protection program !!! lol

Honestly whos the top 3 to ever come out the bay...then end of discussion:

Too Short, Mac Dre , E-40 (any order)

Nuff said...

Actually, the best from the bay, in order was

2Pac (Oakland)
Too Short (Oakland)
E-40 (Vallejo)

And dawg, you don't know what i've done in Vallejo. I never had no reason to ride through Vallejo and yell out the window like a damn fool callin everybody squares. but if any nigga came to my face and asked me what I thought about the hood status in vallejo, I put that on my dead homies that I'd say "It's a square ass city"

And like you said, "Mac Dre was about to get signed" but he didn't, went to jail, and was forgotten for years.

^ look mayne this shouldn't get hostile hahaha, the town just been put out too much artist that were factors in this bay shit...really tho. like we been sayin everyone is biased for the most part... but hammer, luniz, short alone have brought so much exposure to the area... but two of the BIGGEST influences in today's movement are 40 and dre, but lets not forget just how important the TEAM, FAB and KEAK are in regards to this new shit.. and no offense but the sco in my opinion until recently was always too gangsta to act "dumb" ... until recent years imo so yeaaa u know where i stand.

^LOL, wasn't trying to sound hostile. Just had to correct him for saying that Vallejo had the murder rate in '94. He comletely made that up to make Vallejo look harder than it really is.. No hating, it just seems that everyone does this on purpose coz a lot of the bay is jealous of Oakland anyways. They don't like all of the attention Oakland gets, but hey, it's coo..

^^^ nbody can knocc the V for what it been doin ... but i think alot of out of "towners" seem to keep forcefully denyin that oakland has played the biggest part in this rap game. thats fine, but break down fact fo fact, hit fo hit, artist for artist, trend for trend... come on man....the bay is one, but for those that dont respect or recognize where most this shit stemmed from only in turn leads to folks from the town rep harder...but yea that all is just my opin.

I gotta say Oakland first,I'm from the Sco but theres no denying the influence the Town has had on the whole Bay over the years.I'd say Vallejo next and they always seem to be in the O's shadow but I think Oakland has had alot of influence by the itty bitty city by the water whether they wanna admit it and vice versa. And last but not least,I hate to put my city 3rd and I never like to rank shit either but Frisco is next.We got alot of originality too and make up for not havin as many artists as the other 2 but the ones we got are SPITTERS.Our style has always been abou flow and fast too. There aint one sound from here to define our City, very ecclectic.Oakland had $hort,we had Hugh E MC.

trust me im an og in this and definitly not trying to take anything away from the O...The V is my opinion but in stating that ill mention some of the O cats that i didnt see mentioned or helped make up the scene the way it is today:
Dangerous Dame
415
mc Pooh
Ant banks
hammer (really)
ant (forgot his name he got killed few years back in Reno)

but i also seen cats leave out V rappers like:
The MAC
Baby Beesh
Yung Dru
Mac Shawn
Funk Mobb
Yung D Boyz
Popi caz
N 2 Deep
PSD

at the end of the day its all bay though..although some of you town cats is on some real arrogant shit lately..and trust i chop it with some town folks..was just in Vegsa with some last weekend

i gotta stick with vallejo just because my favorite era was YBB stuff. Early Dubee, YBB The Album, Young Lay, early Mac Mall, thats always gonna be my favorite EVER. Oakland artists probably sold more though with Short, Luniz, Hiero, etc, so i guess its a tie.

Yea, but Marin ain't produced no rappers, and the nigga repped Oakland all the time. He didn't rep Marin City, you can't claim a nigga that don't claim you. Can't nobody take Pac away from us. He had stupid love for Oakland and we give it back.

OAKLAND RUN IT NIGGA

Fasho..

one more example too.. Love your avatar, and I love E-40, but this is just an example of Bay niggas takin Oakland shit. On that avatar, E-40 has an A+ next to "History Of Hyphy" on that Ghetto report card... I could of sworn that, that hyphy shit started in the town. It's great that 40 is helping out, but don't indirectly take credit for "The history of hyphy" when you know that Oakland, Ca started all that shit. It was a hood thang and now they blowin it up, but let it be known. It ain't a Bay Thing when you break it down, it's an Oakland movement that E-40 decided to be a part of. Why you think E-40 claims the Bay more than he claims Vallejo?
