The fucc ?

''WOWWW, HES WHITE!! YOU CALLED HIM NIGGA, BLASPHEMY!!!''

Everybody on this mothafucca got some sort of complex with the word nigga, dog dj mark 7 is italian, I remember way bacc in the day he used have sopranos avatars and I been knowin' he white and you mad cause why ? niggas like myself callin' him ''nigga'' ? You got bigger issues than virginity homie...

Yo as far as messy marv goes son, I think he's ''ehhhh...he's ok'' he's not a mind boggling artist that perpetuates sicc cd after the next, personally I feel he's on the down slope and its time for him to pass the torch.

Far as ''keep rap blacc'' naw dog, puerto ricans, dominicans, cubans, costa ricans, we all makin fire ass music...only corny ass dudes is them mexicans and white kids, fuccin' queer ass pubescent high pitch squeeky voices and shit that'll drill a hole in youre head, but they families have money to fund there musical ''inclination'' so I cant see a resolution to that problem in the fore-seeable

Gabe...if this new shit has anything on ''theme music to drug dealings and killings'' I'll be a happy dude, real talk...y'all out done yourselves on that shit

I'm gonna drop some shit on you so take it how you want. Several factors are involved in production and many factors should be considered when you ask about the old bay sound. For one you don't have a lot of PRODUCERS in the bay area. You have BEAT MAKERS (composers) but you don't have A lot of REAL producers. A REAL producer can produce a track and NEVER touch a keyboard. A real producer knows how to direct the song, performance, arrangement and sequence. He or she can tell the drummer what to play, tell the bassist what to play, tell the guitarist to tune to E and tell the vocalist what pitch to be in. THATS production and on a lot of old school funk stuff thats actually what went on. Sadiq, Quincy, Babyface, Clinton these are producers in the O.G. sense. They come with CONCEPTS for songs and map it out.

Fast forward to today. Now producer can be used for any individual who has created a beat on an mpc or fruityloops. As long as he made the beat he is producer (but he should be COMPOSER).

Times have changed and so has the terminology, equipment and sound. Where does that leave the rapper and the person who created the music? Well if you really look at it how many rappers actually KNOW how to get in contact with MUSICIANS? Not many. Is it hard? NOPE! Is it expensive? Depends on what you call expensive. A lot of musicians belong to the union and they can't charge certain rates.

Has it ever occurred to you that some of the people who CAN play actually DON'T want to play because some of the rappers are weak?

A lot of these rappers (not all) want a specific type of sound and too be honest funk is not the type of sound they want. Beats that contain tempo changes are not what they want. Beats that contain chord progressions are not what they want. Beats that have a unique arrangement/sequence and breakdowns are not what they want. They want a very REPETATIVE sound that does NOT have a form of TENSION and RELEASE. Funk has that. Listen to a p-funk or brothers johnson slap and you'll see.

A lot of blame should be placed on the rappers at this point. A lot of them want beats for free and people who can play (especially when they have mouthes to feed) need to be compensated. If the rappers had an understanding of MUSIC (theory) and raised the standards in what THEY rap over you might actually hear a return of funk and groove based rap music. Until that happens you have to settle for the mpc beats and the fantom and triton beats. Because a song was created on a triton does that make it weak? No. Does that mean it can't sound "live"? No. You can make a beat on the keyboard and it can sound like a "KEYBOARD" beat. Meaning the sounds are NOT "realistic".

Heres an example:

http://s18.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0V9JPVRCGAZG736B1RYGQH2W3L

You can also make a beat on the keyboard and make it sound realistic.

Heres an example:

http://s18.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0YIJUONJOXBPH02O8KH0XMAXKV

If you listen to the second beat I'll tell you exactly whats going on.

I need this bed. Ya'll be cool.

:hgk:

excellent commentary...I've been saying this for ages...it seems the music and artist have lost the love, soul and/or essence that it takes to make dat good shit...aint no purpose...I had forgot what rhym-n was until I saw Lauryn Hill Perform on BET, shes a menace(dame)...and for the last week, due to the radio and my own deck, I have been reminded of what rapp-n truly is...remember this is just jargon, rhetoric from my lips...

But you have a fair idea what I meant, these ''sur13X1413Xx'' queers, fat, robot lookin', bald headed eses with them gay ass terminator 2 robocop ass sunglasses with the 1998 ass master P cash money album covers emphasizing the ''bling'' on there ear rings and rims and shit, corny ass bullshit like that....same content ''Kill a scap/ with a cap/ from the strap'' ABC 123 ass shit..

And the impressionable white kids who's parents got a shitload of money to get 50 cent and yukmouth features on they shit...

Thats just whats fuccin' things up right now, whereas i nthe 90's shit was more unofficially co-ordinated, we knew who would drop albums, and needless to say we knew theyd be fire, shit just ain't like that anymore, everyones a rapper now, fuccin faggit ass myspace.com emcees and shit

Alright Deuce -

If you liked all our shit so far, you gotta check out my boy Malice, he's a white dude so I wanna know what you think of his shit. His album is Malice "Concepts" and the whole thing can be heard on northern-ridaz.com . Try the track "On One". His whole album is some different shit, every song is a concept from beginning to end. Put it this way, he's the only white dude C-Fresh would ever rap with haha

As far as Known Associates, I consider it close to Theme Music part 2. Theres a few songs I didnt want on there but it was a joint effort.

To me Messy Marv aint put out a bad record yet. Cant do no wrong in my eyes. All his records got some of that funk on em. I dont think he on the downslope, in fact I think he's the most consistent in the Bay besides 40. And he only like 23 I think, thats way too young to pass the torch when you still puttin out fire every time.

And while you talkin bout mexicans, these cubans, ricans and dominicans comin with all that reggaeton shit is just as bad. I know theres a few latin artists that put out some good shit here and there, but them cats is black to me, Noreaga and cats like him (yeah i know he was on that one garbage ass reggaeton song).

Ha, naw man I don't have a iota against mexicans, I just feel that this rap shit ain't for them, there voices are peculiar, there heritage is some cowboy hat wearin' lasoo ass shit and I don't think the two merge together, its like asians and whites, it's just not very practical to look at irregardless of where these mexican rappers is from, the whole ''image'' cant be marketed because it's not very ''cinematic'' of gangsta rap or P-Funk music...

Mr Kee is aight, but Im being very generous when I give him that title, he's got nothing on Ricans out east like Terror squad and other niggas, but he's aight, I got latin plague and 14 carrot dreams and random compilations and his rappin is neither here nor' there too me. I'll have to checc for this young Dry guy.

But I was feelin fly mar shit, waitin on his solo, and I was feelin that tracc ''ballin now'' thats some real shit that stay in my iPod, niggas hustlin to get weight by doin residential burglaries and etc, real life shit, not all that beaten up brotha lynch hung ''fantasy'' chop the head of Jesus ass corny shit...but i read some niggas review on this and Im going to tower records.com to order today or tommorow son so it's all the way on.

@ Deuce....even though he's not from the Bay what do you think of CHINGO BLING?

ahaha yo you serious ? chingo bling is that mexicraccer lookin' mothafucca that wears all them cave-man embroidered cowboy hats and shit ? well fucc homie, I dont even have an' opinion on that to be honest with you, it's like them outkast niggas, it's a joke, it's not supposed to be taken serious, and by any standard there just put there to entertain and if rap fails the dude will probably go bacc to being a chip-n-dale dancer or whatever the fucc he was doing prior to the deal...

Its just funny to me homie hahaha basically, not my type of shit by any stretch

True, but you mentioned consistency and I always forget about 40 lol, 40 is the shit, but sometimes even with him its like he sits around with a note pad all day tryna think up new slang, and its getting ridiculous now sort of, in regards mess, I guess thats just the great thing about musical philosophy, we can agree to disagree....last sicc song I ever heard from mess was that ''Oh no pt2'' with nate dogg.

And yes, raggeton is ass, Im with you on that all the way and runnin'
