I've only seen about 30 minutes of it but the movie is NOT aimed at little kids even though it's PG. I'd say most kids under 11-12 wouldn't even get it and it might be a little too "artsy" for most kids under that.
I took my kids to see it last night and that was my exact thoughts on it....

Movie was good but had a lot of under lining messages and metaphores most kids wouldnt catch.

Yeah, if you read most of the negative reviews they seem to be because the critic says the kids won't get it then saying the actual movie is bad. Spike Jonez said that the movie is about BEING a kid and not really AIMED at kids. It seems most movie critics think if a movie is G or PG then it must be automatically for kids which is retarded.

I saw it last night tired as fuck in SF so that may be why I didnt enjoy that much. It was visually hella dope. I just didnt like the structure of the movie. There was no conflict and solution really. I did like the messege and the dialouge at sometimes was great. I'd give it a 7/10. Dont ever go to a premiere night in SF and expect the crowd not to be hella gay and smug. Jeesh SF is so great but so gay sometimes.
