One thing that we as black people lost was visionaries
Malcolm X
Kwame Nkrumah
Sekou Toure
Walter Rodney
Thomas Sankara
Martin Luther King Jr
Kwame Ture aka Stokley Carmichaels
Dr. Khalid Abdul Muhammed
Dr. John Henrik Clarke
Dr. Amos Wilson
Dr. Chancellor Williams
Maurice Bishop
and the list goes on and on
Once you've lost that vision, it's like having a body with no head, so you got a bunch of people walking scattered all over the place.
In the next 30 years plenty of things could happen, so I'm not so down on black folks, but as of right now things aren't looking good at all.
Just look at the state of our Black rappers today. A lot of them only rap about few things and that is bitches hoes, killing "niggas", flossing diamonds etc. Our rappers are so WEAK that a white rapper can call a black women bitches and not say shit about it. That shit couldn't happen in the early 90's , nor the 80's, and definitely not in the 70's but today these rappers will just find away to let it pass by.
On college campuses if a black student organization was to plan a W.E.B. Dubois day there will be about 5 black students at the event. But if the school was to invite the Westside connection to come and rap 1 song all these black students will ditch classes, midterms, and everything to see these fools rap about some pointless shit.
Believe it or not, I've been to quite a bit of black functions and met some black organizations that are down to do what it takes to uplift our people. The only problem we had was keeping in touch with each other and finding ways that there organization and my organization could serve the community TOGETHER. I've blown a lot of good contacts by just simply being lazy, it won't happen anymore.
Establish a vision for yourself and organization, without a vision you face more problems.
Serve the community
Take advantage of black events and network with your folks
Invest into the community somehow
Burn some audio of Malcolm X's speeches on a CD and hand'em out to some folks in the streets for free.
Research the schools in your hood and see how you could be of any help. Do these kids have access to a library in the community? If not make it aware!
The bottom line is we have to be about something
