100% on point. When I was a youngin I spent my summers in DC and I just thaught the city was completely gone in the head. I mean 3 or 4 murders a Night, shoutouts on every block every hour, shit was crazy. It wasnt until I was like 15-16 and spent the entire year in the city that I realized it was a summer thing. Every year about the middle of April two things happen, first the police lock up as many niggaz as possible (to keep the summer tourists safe) second niggaz come outside and just plain act up. Its always the worst during a heatwave also. Shit after 2 or 3 days where the low was like 80 degrees niggaz aint had no sleep and TEMPERS FLARED. Now that I'm older I relize this shit goes down in every city. So GET READY.

Statistics show that crime rises during the summer.
Especially in heavily populated areas.

Maybe that's why there's always conflict in the middle east, it's too damn hot.

Fuck aid, lets get these people air conditioning....

Auburn man slain; two charged
Lindsay Field
Staff Writer
Thursday, April 13, 2006

Two Auburn residents were arrested and charged with capital murder early Wednesday morning in connection with the shooting of a local senior citizen.

Henry P. Reese, 72, known as "Tight" to friends and family, was shot and killed in his home at 743 Stubb Ave. in Auburn at approximately 10:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Police investigations led to the arrest of Marcus Walker, 24, and Anthony M. Roberts, 23, both of Auburn.

"It is a very active, ongoing investigation and because of that we can’t share details at this time," said Capt. Tom Stofer with the Auburn Police Division.

Officers responded to Reese’s home shortly after gunshots were reported being fired in the area.

Emergency personnel responded and Lee County Deputy Coroner John Sawyer pronounced Reese dead at the scene at 10:50 p.m.

James "Buck" Bucanon, Reese’s cousin and roommate of nearly 30 years, said he heard someone calling for Reese outside their front door.

"I heard him putting on his pants so he could go to the door and when he got to the door they started firing shots," Bucanon said. "By the time I got to the door, (Reese) was already dead, lying on this front porch. You couldn’t find no one any better. He didn’t bother nobody ever."

Bucanon said he heard approximately six shots outside his house before finding Reese on their front steps.

"It just happened so quick, all that noise," said Bucanon, who stayed in his home Tuesday night and plans to remain in the house until he can find another roommate. "(Reese) didn’t even know those boys."

Reese’s neighbor, Monica Allen, said gunshots are a familiar sound in her neighborhood.

"We do hear gunshots a lot, that’s why I didn’t think anything of it," Allen said. "I’ve known Tight for a long time, because my grandmother, Mary Henderson, lived in this house all my life."

Allen said she heard a car speed off before she dressed herself quickly and ran outside to see what was going on at her neighbor’s home.

"I went outside and Buck was in the yard and said (Reese) had been shot," said Allen.

A weapon was recovered, and both men, Walker and Roberts, were charged with capital murder. A conviction for capital murder is punishable either by life imprisonment without parole or by death. The two men are currently being held in the Lee County jail without bond.

As the investigation progresses, further details will be released. This is the second murder in Auburn this year and the third murder in Lee County.

Bucanon said that funeral arrangements for Reese’s burial will not be made until his brothers and sisters, who are not from Auburn, come into town.

back in march, on the street where I live two police officers ran up in a person's house and got mopped up so bad that they both had to leave in stretchers when the paramedics can to scoop 'em up. personally, i likes this type of shit because in my hood there is no justice in a court room, so we need to start holding court in the streets and policing our own blocks by keeping these coward with badges from harrassing us.

Opelika police officers injured in ambush
J. Frank Lynch
Staff writer
Tuesday, March 14, 2006

Two officers with the Opelika Police Department are at home recovering after being injured in what authorities describe as an ambush-type attack Saturday afternoon.
Three men have already been arrested in connection with the attacks and more arrests could be pending as the investigation continues, said Opelika police spokesman Capt. Allan Elkins.
According to Elkins, the two unidentified officers were responding to numerous anonymous complaints of drug activity taking place in the 300 block of Bankston Alley off Fourth Street around 2:10 p.m. on Saturday.
“As the officers arrived they were met in the yard by a male shouting obscenities and behaving in a disorderly fashion,” Elkins. “He was asked several times to restrain his behavior but refused to comply.”
Elkins said the male suspect taunted the police officers by saying “I got warrants on me, come and get me,” and then turned and ran into the residence.
The officers followed the suspect into the house, where they encountered him “standing his ground” inside a kitchen area, Elkins said.
“He stood and held his ground and as one of the officers approached him to arrest him, the officer was blind-sided from multiple offenders,” Elkins said.
As soon as the first officer was attacked, the second went to his defense and was also attacked, Elkins said.
It was unknown what, if any, weapons were used in the assault. The first officer was the more seriously injured of the two, and was transported to East Alabama Medical Center where he was treated for a broken nose, chipped teeth, bruises, scratches, abrasions about the face and other injuries.
He was later transported to be examined by an eye doctor, who said it was fortunate the officer was wearing eyeglasses at the time of the assault or else he could have lost an eye.
The second officer was treated at the scene for his injuries and released, Elkins said.
Saturday afternoon police arrested two suspects in the assault.
Delanda Tyrone Flakes, 37, of Auburn was charged with two counts of assault in the second degree and was being held on $30,000 bond on each count. Tewan Lazaris Wilson, 33, of Opelika was arrested for two counts of assault in the second degree and was being held on $20,000 bond each, Elkins said.
A third suspect was arrested early Sunday, he said.
Clint Anthony Flakes, 29, of Wetumpka, was arrested at 4:48 a.m. Sunday and charged with two counts of assault in the second degree and was being held without bond bending transfer to the Alabama Department of Corrections for possible parole violations, Elkins said.
The investigation continues and more arrests are pending, Elkins said.
“I’m confident there will be,” he said on Monday.
Elkins said it remains unclear if the ambush was a set-up or whether it just happened.
“It is unique, in my opinion,” he said.

Some people just need to leave the powdah alone:

Opelika man in custody after standoff with police
Mitch Sneed
Staff Writer
Sunday, April 16, 2006

An Opelika man is in custody after taking two hostages and holding police at bay for more than four hours early Saturday morning.

Octavious Charlie Bryant, 27, was arrested on more than 10 outstanding warrants and additional charges are pending, according to Opelika Police Department Capt. Allan Elkins.

"At 3:46 a.m. officers responded to a call saying they heard shots fired and a woman screaming for help in the 800 block of Baker Avenue," Elkins said. "When they arrived on the scene they saw Bryant outside a residence holding a handgun. Officers saw him strike the female, who we later learned was his girlfriend, with the gun."

Bryant then forced the woman into a residence at 805 Baker Ave. - taking his girlfriend and a child hostage. While inside, Elkins said officers witnessed Bryant pistol-whipping the woman. He wouldn’t acknowledge officers and refused to negotiate the release of the hostages, Elkins said.

Police learned that he had three outstanding misdemeanor warrants in Opelika and at least 10 outstanding warrants pending with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

"He wouldn’t respond at all," Elkins said. "Then his mother arrived at the residence and she was able to convince him to let the woman and child go. Once we had them out safely, then it became a matter of waiting him out."

At about 8:40 a.m., Bryant finally surrendered to police without further shots being fired.

"In situations like that you never know what is going through their minds or what could happen," Elkins said. "You have a man who is armed and abusive, you just hope for an end where no one is seriously injured. That’s what we had in this case."
