...Getting his voice back, that is.

I think I gave up shortly after I realized that:

a) That was him on the Efil4Zaggin skits.

b) that was more or less his natural voice on the skits.

(is it kind of ironic that he played a crackhead on those skits, then admittedly became one shortly thereafter?)

Many years later I regained hope, briefly, prior to the release of
"Deuce" (whatever year that was) after reading some press release that
stated "his voice had got much better since helter skelter" or whatever.

and I believed it, or at least tried to.

Then I heard Deuce!

That is all.

on efilzaggin, when i heard his voice...
but i never gave up on him.
i love NO ONE CAN DO IT BETTER, but equally (or maybe even more) i love HELTER SKELTER.
i dont hear the same guy, but i like the sound each record has.

wow, you like Helter Skelter.

Far be it for me to shit on any fellow D.O.C. fan's beliefs, more power to you.

I rate DOC as a top 10 all-time west coast rapper, and potentially #1 if not for the accident.

Peace,

The DOC was a great preformer/writer/artist. But he was/is self destructive, all the bad shit that happened to him was brought on by himself. From what I have read about him, he was nothing but a drug addict. He had several opportunities to fix his voice but he never did. It's a damn shame to waste all that talent.

D.O.C. iz from Dallas. I rate him az a top southern MC. Hiz career may have took off in LA but he waz raized in the south. Same az Pac. Hiz career took off in the Bay A thatz where he got a lot of hiz game from but he waz raized in the East.

But back 2 the topic it waz hard 4 me 2 listen 2 the D.O.C. after hiz vocal coordz got fucked off. I tell people till thiz day that if hiz voice hadn't got fucked up he would've given ANY rapper a run run 4 there money. That includez my fav rapper & yourz too.

Its sad to think how legendry DOC would/could have been today if he never lost his voice.

Still, I love that Deuce album, even though he personally doesn't do a whole lot of rapping on it.
