i remember they still wasnt fucking with local rap after his death, but i remember KMEL was pretty much pushing mac dre w/ feeling myself and going all out after his death. then, all of the sudden; feds, quinn, team, keak, 40, frontline, jack, etc. started getting airplay. still, i didnt remember 949 was fucking w/ the bay. but when the hyphy movement was in its peak, 40 on mtv, and you hear all the mixes on kmel that consisted about 80% bay rap, and ratings for kmel was booming cause thats what the locals want,still, i remember 949 trying to promote "the station for the latins" or someshit w/ all that reggaetone shit. but when 949 realize no one was fuckign with them, tats when they starting playing bay rap all day and even gave fab his own show. still though, kmel is a few steps ahead of 949 right now in the local scene. only time i listen to 949 is on sundays when they play the oldies.
