What do you want to do ????-Just sequence-sample-paste together prearranged loops ?? You can get some names of software from here but in the end you'll have to do your homework and think about what's best for you. What works for a gang of people may not be perfect for you.

A Grand Piano and a Tape Recorder, Thats OG shit right there!
LOL!

But for real. I use Cubase SL, It requires some external Sounds(Keyboards and modules, PLus a MIDI interface, and audio Interface) Unless you're strictly goin' to use software synths, and use step input instead of bangin' on a keybboard.
Cubase Works great for me, it has all the features I need. Personally I'm not a Pro Tools person, I can do the same shit on Cubase as Pro Tools(I know how to use it, I just choose not to), There's not really much of a difference, most DAW's do the same thing. It's all a matter of personal Preference. For me I can work much faster on Cubase. It seems to me these days that a lot of people are sayin' "If it ain't Pro Tools, it ain't shit". But really it's not the program that's going to make the difference, it's the Engineer that's operating the program
