in the rap game u can tell its deffiently sales cause over the last 4 years rappers, labels been robbing the fans with they bullshit albums, fans dont even want to buy albums no more cause they worried about getting sold some bullshit u cant even turn a cd over anymore and see whos on what songs cause the song could be old with a new title the rappers dont care no more and the fans dont either they down load most the shit the listen to now a days

i think those who has put they albums up for free have generated more fans because of and in return get a strong following..ie tech n9ne, odd world future etc..

as with the above cases mix in some off the wall left field shit and you on to something..as long as it doesnt seemed forced of course, cause the fans will know

SALES can mean you simply fooled people into buying the album...it doesnt mean people liked the album. With good cover art, as lil shrink wrap and a fast line you could move 10,000 blank CD-R's if you're smart about it...

That doesnt mean 10,000 people enjoyed the album,or would ever buy another one from you again.

Your song could get 10,000 plays on Myspace, that doesnt mean any of those people enjoyed it or are now your fans.


FANS = returning customers happy with their initial purchase and anticipating another one soon.
