Honestly, a big part of the problem is that Bay rappers use slang that no one else understands... on Keak Da Sneak's biggest singles, most of the comments on youtube are "wtf is this nigga saying". A lot of our slang is obscure and not the kind of shit you just pick up from repeated listening... you gotta be from here to understand it. That by itself will turn off listeners unfamiliar with it.

This is true. If even everybody on this thread requested say, "Who Are You" by J. Stalin on 106.1, they would take notice. This board should do shit like that... vote on a song every week and then everybody requests that song on 94.9 and 106.1.

im from portland but i listen to bay because one reason, it is the bay, its underground no one really listens to it up here and when you find someone that does insta friends, but the thing that makes the bay so dope is that it isnt all played out and mainstream, thats why the hyphy movement died, bay dont like watered down shit, i relize you all want more money and the credit you deserve, but being on tv and being throughout the airwaves wouldnt do anything but bring up more drama and force artist to sell out.


besides that some people are doin it somewhat big out of the bay,, ya boy lil b kreashawn v nasty loverance 40 short berner, but they all get a fair amount of hate to say the least, ya boy says it perfectly the bay mad they cant tame me... kinda sums up the thinking pattern as awhole

I'll start the thread then... I'd have to think of how to do the format though. I'd probably have one thread where people name a song they think should be on the radio and then a second thread where people vote from the list of songs people came up with and whichever one gets the most votes gets called in by everybody.

I wish people would stop sayin this ancient shit. Its 2012, NOBODY is bitin our slang or style. Aint nobody lookin at the Bay for the rap blueprint for success. Our own rappers cant even win in the Bay so what makes you think someone is bitin our style? FOH.

The Bay is not too raw for BET or MTV, there's been several Bay artist videos on MTV. I dont understand why people say some of this shit. As if the industry cant "handle" the Bay cuz we too hard. Please, we aint rappin bout shit that a million other rappers aint rappin about. I see this as one of the main problems. The Bay needs to get off its own dick and realize that what we doin aint cuttin it and hasn't been in a long time. Aint nobody holdin us back or hatin on us...its us. We need to step up our creativity, sound, rappin, beats, hustle, swag, business savvy, image and most importantly stop complainin and STOP HATIN!.

PS it took me to move from the Bay and take a look objectively before I realized how skewed the Bays perception of reality is when it comes to this rap shit.
