I could actually use some good reccomendations right now about good hip hop out there. Also if people know of sites I can either hear or DL an album so I can check it out before I buy.

In my opinion what is popular Hip Hop right now is more lost than ever before. I'm almost ashamed to say I even like Hip Hop music anymore.

to me the beats are better than ever. you know if you want to find good hip hop and dope ass rap, you gotta just dig thru the underground. Theres plenty of rappers rippin shit up. I dont even base hiphop off whats played on MTV or the Radio. all of that is just garbage. Go to your local record store and just pick a ramdon cd., you'll be surprised whats on it.

Hip Hop? shit.... I don't know man, I'd like to agree with AKAZIE, as technology grows the DJ'ing improves, the beats are Ill, production can make a so-so rapper sound God-like. But technology is also kind of damning to Hip Hop as far as bootlegging and whoring out the culture, it's not exclusive anymore, there is no underground.

MC'ing, is in an interesting state because the 'street credibility' gimmick is kind of breaking down, which can be a positive thing--Your neighborhood isn't as important as your 'SKILLS' which is a good thing I think.

But this same movement also creates a different sound of music that betrays HIP HOP in a way. Most feel that Hip Hop grew from inner city struggle, and a need to report on matters that exist within American boroughs--Realism.

Still one can argue that the original Hip Hop MC's and DJ's really came from the PARTY scene, they came to party, dance and have fun, so race, culture, and neighborhood is merely circumstance and should be regarded as such.

I'd like to speak to Breaking and Graffiti too, but I don't think anyone would read it.

Hip Hop is Art. Art doesn't die.

There's always been a balance in hip-hop. 4 every Public Enemy, X-Clan, Big Daddy Kane, 2pac, Ras Kass, Heiroglyphics, Krs One, Nas, Lord Finesse, Rakim, Kool G. Rap, Ultramagnetic MC, N.W.A., and Geto Boys there was always a Hammer, Vanilla Ice, Young MC, Skee-Lo, Heavy D and The Boyz etc etc. Rap music today is like satellite tv you got about 200+ channels of music to choose from but to get to that real shit you gotta do some diggin and like Cube said in 90' Turn off the muthafuckin radio Turn off that bullshit
