You would probably want to use Adobe Photoshop 7 or 8 for graphics, and Microsoft Frontpage for websites if your a beginer at it after you get better you would use Dreamweaver Macromedia....

Learn slices and how to export the html and/or images in photoshop, maybe search for a tutorial on tutorialforums.com . I think the macromedia fireworks program does the samething. its easy to learn & it basically writes all of the html for you. just remove unwanted, blank-images and you're good to go. It turns slices into tables and area maps'em for links, etc. My bad if this doesn't make any sense.

Fireworks is cool, but if you're designing in photoshop just jump to image ready. The easiest way is to use guides in photoshop, then when you open your page in image ready you can just turn the guides into slices.

Been 4 years on notepad for me...I thought I was the only one still using it these days. lol
Notepads cool & all but you guys should check out EditPlus. It makes things alot easier while still keepin the hardcode layout/lightness. My pc's a piece of shit so programs like dreamweaver etc just don't cut it when I'm tryin to be productive. I do use those programs for quick reference & shit though.

I'm fluent in html so notepad's always been cool for me. I'm gonna check out that EditPlus though...my pc's a piece of shit too so I only use dreamweaver every once in a while when I don't feel like typing up a bunch of tables.

DreamWeaverMX, FlashMX, Photoshop, just a quick list from Upheaval, since we are all posting our equipment. Good Luck.

peace...
cant go wrong with either of those three. But if u wanna design flash sites on a beginner level, mess with Swish.
