I'm on a Compaq Presario 1400 (old as hell), but I was thinking of getting a Compaq Presario R3000 from a pawnshop for like $600, but it has the 256MB and I really want the 512MB.

MAC, PowerBook g4... best thing i bought since my Technic 1200s, years ago. wireless internet is the shit, and free.

Check out Circut City..I got A compaq Presario SR1620NX with 512mb for like $600...with an extra $350 in rebates...Its a good computer

i got a compaq presario too, but a s6010v. i got it 2 years ago for only 299. bomb ass deal, 2.5ghz, 80gb, but 256mb ram.. dawwwg, don't spend 600 bucks on a used comp from a pawn store!! you can EASILY find one for about 400-600 that's HELLA better and much more decent than mine at any computer store..

check the sunday newspaper ads or online.. circuit city, best buy, fry's electronics, compusa, office depot/max...... you get the point. look around (not at a pawn store), they're CHEAP and worth it!!!

I have a dell dimension with a 3 ghz p4 and it is hella slow but I also have an old hp with a 900 mhz celeron and it is way faster I am not sure why but everyone that I know who has a dell has trouble with it slowing down after a few months,

Sony vaio. . . .got it like 2 and half years ago. 2.53 ghz, 256 mb graphic card (fx 5500 not dat great),760 ram,p4, 120 gig hd. its a lil outdated but its still plays all the new games. . . .even if its on low settings.

...i run off a 15" G4 Powerbook...

...and aside from macs not being affected by viruses or spyware, they come with the latest shit already inside them...no upgrades necessary...

...if you were to take your $500 computer and upgrade it to the specs that macs have, then yes, you would still pay a bit less....and still worry about viruses and the like...

2.5 GHZ P4 , Overclocked to 3 GHZ . 100 GB HD. 1 Gig Ram , Radeon 9600 Pro 256mb Video, Delta 44 Sound Card w output box 19 inch monitor. Alesis M1 MK2 Monitors. Bout to dump all this crap for a Dual Core Laptop. Most likely with an AMD Processor.
