ADD/ADHD is commonly misdiagnosed (for corporated drug companies profit, true indeed). However, when properly diagnosed, it can help stablize the chemicle imbalance that may exist. Contrapositively, it dulls down their creativity and natural innocence.
Shoot, Television is a guilty cuprit as well. The idiot box conveys information at a 4th grade comprehension level, (probably lower), all these cartoons, sitcoms, commercials, create base aspirations for material possesions, and present an unrealistic slant on an unattainable lifestyle (thus contributing to potential depression/dissatisfaction w/ life by diluting the brain with b.s. priorities). At the same time TV shortens the attention span of it's followers, leading to, or being confused with ADD/ADHD. KILL your television...
I feel the greatest discretion should be used when prescribed medication, b/c chemically altering a childs brain can ultimately set that child up for a lifetime of chemical dependencies (self medicated, or RX perscribed)...
Either way, the importance of ROLE MODELS who stress the importance of learning and are involved play the most vital/essential/invaluable roll.
