What Is The Difference Between A Street Album and Real Album?

I don't get it. To me if the album has all original beats art work and is sold in stores. That shit is an album.

I agree with you but there is a difference

It's a marketing ploy. Now if an artist is on a major lable with a big budget a street album would be something that they independently released. IE TI dropped that mixtape that f*cked up LIL FLIP'S career. If an artist is already on an independent label a street album would be a cd put together in short time spand (ex 2 weeks) cause some cat gave them upfront $$$ to do an album with them. A perfect example is any album released on JOHN SILVA'S label HIGH POWERED ENTERTAINMENT. If you don't know by now every album released on this label should be considered a "street" album cause they all sound generic with maybe two or three good tracks on them. DAZ, KILLA TAY, KURUPT & ROSCOE have all released albums on this label and as good as those 4 artists are all the albums are weak because the beats ain't sh*t!!! I hope this helps.

i think the street album are the left over tracks that didn't make the Official Album. Plus theres prolly songs that couldn't get Sample clearance.

Street album is an album with all/mostly original content. and it is not on any label, something meant to be passed out or sold in local mom & pops.....basically an unofficial album.

a mixtape with original beats.

these are things that mainly LA rappers release constantly cause they cant put out a real album.

imo, a street is just a mixtape without that gay ass dj screamin all over it. but that shit might have changed. cuz i've heard "street albums" with the fruity ass dj screamin on em as well.

Street Album.

Translation:
"I have a lot of songs recorded, basically enough to make any album, but I have no strong singles. So let me just pass a bunch of album cuts and half-ass songs as a complete album. The fans are too stupid to know the difference. Besides, they love me."
