Does Ya Boy really have tons of great punchlines though?

his rhyming ability is his best asset... he can put together some really good multi syllable rhymes

but I can't recall a lot of really creative punchlines or metaphors... can you point some out to me?
Absolutely. Check my youtube page if you don't believe me. If I could I would post all of em on Siccness but that would piss the moderators off. Bruh I have over 200 YB songs I actually follow his music. I'm not saying he's dope cuz I like his personality. The nigga raps like an EastCoast nigga that's why he appeals to cats out there. Like a Cassidy of the West Coast.

right on... I'll check your youtube page and listen

again... I do think he's a dope rapper... he has skills... I think he's more lyrical than most rappers out in the Bay, so compared to them he's much better than if you were comparing him to a lot of dude's from the eastcoast

but the west aint never really been about lyricism...

IMO the west has always been about making better sounding music... with good flows, beats, etc...

while the eastcoast got the lyrical shit on lock

^^^No doubt that's the main difference between the West and East in my opinion. I always thought that if somebody from the WestCoast could get on some lyrical shit like a NY rapper, but kept that WestCoast sound, they would be the best thing since Pac. I'm not saying YB is doing that I aint crazy lol, but he does seem like he appeals to the Eastcoast much more than the average Westcoast rapper.

lol good lookin out bruh

yeah I feel what you're sayin

but I'll say this... I think if there's one rapper form the Bay who has the sound to blow up on a national level it's Clyde Carson

I dunno... his shit just has a sound that could blow up all over the radio... he needs to step it up and start droppin some shit

Fasho Clyde is the nig his flow is on point. I wish he would have stayed away from BWS though because it seems like Game doesn't know how to deal with his artists....Has anybody from BWS other than Game ever dropped an album? Clyde doesn't even have his OWN mixtape. Only time we here his music is when it's on BWS Radio......Clyde has dumbass potential but I think he's being held back.

shit I hope so... these rappers out here need to stop relying on other artists to help em blow up... because most of the time that shit doesn't even work

the bay is known for their independent hustle... they need to keep grinding like that

but who knows... maybe he'll blow up on BWS

The mayne is str8 raw.....The way he constructs his words is on a whole other level to me....His flow is strong and I believe once he actually starts working on his 2nd album, he'll be able to construct a very solid one....His style can appeal to punchline enthusiasts, commercial heads, and people that are looking for hot shit period.....

I honestly did not get into Ya Boy until last year when he dropped 'Imma Murdah This Shit', that tape made me a believer QUICK and got ALOT of replay value front to back....And to some heads in here saying he's too gangster, shit well I see gangsta artists get praise on this hoe, so what makes him any different? Mess talks about his gun alot and I support his work, but I never hear ppl saying he talks too much about his chopper and whatnot.....If its good music, thats what matters.

you the only one who answered the question in depth. Im a play devil's advocate. I think theres a lot of other rappers in the Bay that are better lyricists than Ya Boy and deliver their raps with way more style than Ya Boy. Such as San Quinn, Bailey, Toriano, Telly Mac, Devo, Seff, Boo Banger, RGeezy aka Mistah One, Louie Loc, Locksmith.

So what are you guys hearing Ya Boy execute that these guys aren't in your opinion? Im asking because you guys hype him up way more than these guys from what I notice on BART.
WOW!

Shit, the whole 'Murdah This Shit Tape' for that matter....Especially 100 Bars. Just listen how fluid that whole joint is....Another thing about Ya Boy is that he's that type of dude that makes you want to go back on his records, and you hear something you didn't catch the first time, which is why I said I had that 'Murdah This Shit' tape on repeat heavily....

Ya Boy - Step Ya Game Up

My favorite Ya Boy song to this day.
I fucks wit Ya Boy. Dude is fire...
just needs some distribution to go forward wit the album.

and fuck

I MISS RICK ROCK PRODUCTIONS. A LOTTTTTTT.
i mean... i can understand the appeal.

he has a decent flow/voice an shit over a good beat...

but what he is saying isnt innovative by any stretch..

"ay its ya boy......
we in the buildin
20 inches on everything i own, boy
i dont know about you, but i get dough, boy"

its like............. all he is doing is bragging about shit...

he lacks real substance. same with that 100 bars. it was cool, he had multis.... but it wasnt saying much

an im not hating to hate right now... im just trying to pick him apart a little and see if he has sustainability. how many albums can you hear of this back to back?
