i think it all boils down to a lack of education and family values in our communities.

and you also have people who are trying to be accepted so they act like their friends and people they're around.

we saw it for years how everyone copied whatever was hot in rap music at the time, fashion, slang, etc.

a lot of people want to be rappers/producers these days but that just created a lot of weak ass music.

the sad truth is a lot of young people look up to rappers and try to be like them. and rappers are just trying to act like the drug dealers, anyone cool with money in the hood, etc.

most people don't know and will never learn how to engineer a product or service and sell it in a manner that precipitates an ROI.

that's why they're called "most people."
I agree. The people who do make goods and services should be able to grow their companies and employ most people. It just so happens that its only in the bay are rap music scene that the small businesses that are created in this industry don't grow into anything.

For instance, where is our Cash Money or Strange Music or Bad Boy?

It's also up to us as parents Big Homies older brothers all that to really burn it into our childrens heads that being a doctor or a lawyer is cool.Thats where your gonna make a difference and GET PAID. Thats how you will achieve the cars the money the trips the big house etc. I have two daughters and right now since day one I stress education, hard work and respect will be their recipe to success. They don't always understand it and it doesnt always come off as cool but they know what is expected. And its reflected in there school work and report cards. I stress to them failure is not a option. By that I mean failing themselves by not going %100 at everything they put work into. All I can do is lay the foundation and give them the tools to build. In the the end the shaping and molding Im doing now I rust will pay off for them. Every Lil Wayne needs a lawyer and Im damn sure he needs a doctor or two as well.

IT TAKES REAL MONEY TO OPERATE A REAL COMPANY.MOST INDEPENDENTS RUN OFF HUSTLE MONEY WHICH BASICALLY MAKES IT A STREET ORIENTED BUSINESS WHERE THE BUDGET IS ONLY AS BIG AS SOMEONES WALLET AT THE TIME.THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN NOW AND THE 90'S IS......BACC THEN PPL ACTUALLY SPENT REAL MONEY.NOW EVERYBODY IS TAKIN SHORTCUTS AND THE QUALITY HAS DECLINED BECUZ BEGINNERS THINK THEY ARE CAPABLE OF WHAT THE PROFESSIONALS DO.U HAD TO GO TO A REAL STUDIO TO GET A GOOD MIXING JOB AND U HAD TO SEND YOUR PROJECT TO A PRO 2 GET IT MASTERED. $200 PER HOUR TYPE SHIT.I DONT THINK ANYONE DOES THAT ANYMORE.

you have to have the business acumen to scale hustle money up into real money. that's where people fail.

the internet has put so many real and valuable tools for either cheap or free that artists aren't resourceful enough to put to use for themselves. they just complain about how it used to be and how the game's fucked up, because they're not equipped to recognize what assets the internet actually brings to the table.

BEFORE THE INTERNET U COULD ACTUALLY TRACC DOWN WHAT WAS OWED 2 U OR GO LET A DISTRIBUTOR KNOW U WERE SERIOUS ABOUT YOUR MONEY AND THEIR LIFE MIGHT BE IN DANGER IF U DIDNT GET PAID...THE NAPSTER CHANGED THE GAME.SOME PPL MADE ADJUSTMENTS AND SOME DIDNT.I HAVE REPRESENTATION AND HAVE 4 AWHILE BUT ITS STILL NOT AN EASY SITUATION 2 SOLVE. MAYBE IF YOURE NOT AN ARTIST U CAN TALK HIGH AND MIGHTY BUT IF U DONT KNOW FIRST HAND...YOURE JUST ASSUMIN.EVEN PPL WITH BUSINESS DEGREES AND EXPERIENCE HAVE TROUBLE IN THIS BUSINESS BUT OUR GENERATION IS NOT THE FIRST 2 GO THRU IT.I SEE IT AS ALOT OF ARTIST ACTUALLY TELL THE TRUTH ABOUT WHAT THEY DEAL WITH OR OVERCOME AND OUTSIDERS LOOK AT IT AS COMPLAINTS. BITCHES COMPLAIN AND NAG. THE ARTISTS I KNOW WHO HAVE ISSUES ARENT COMPLAININ,A HIGH PERCENTAGE OF THEM ACTUALLY HAVE VALID POINTS AND ARGUMENTS. TOO MANY PPL STEREOTYPE RAPPERS WHEN IN ACTUALITY EVERY INDIVIDUAL IS DIFFERENT.
