They arent playing FAB because Bay radio is like Wrestling...The 2 stations which are one floor apart and owned by the same company still think people believe that they are in competition with each other. Just like the bad guys and good guys in wrestling. The employees of the 2 stations might be in competition with each other but the 2 actual stations arent. I mean, you still pay the same one guy to get some play on either station right? I can see why its not in Vons best interest to play FABS records just like I can see why FAB and Gary are upset. You're never gonna hear Hoodrat Miguel as a guest host on a 106.1 KMEL show and your never gonna here Rick Lee DJ'ing on Strawberry in the morning and apparently you are never gonna here another FAB record on KMEL. Lets put this topic to rest now. Im sure its putting both Jazzy and Von in an awkward place. STOP PLAYING NB RIDERS ON 94.9 AND SOMEONE TELL Camel to BRING BACK KEVVY KEV!!

FAB IS THE NEXT TO BLOW!!

Commentary on this issue by Wendy Day:

The politics at radio are insane. For example, a Top 10 city had 2 competing urban radio stations and it was a key market for Twista when I consulted him in 1996. He was signed to Atlantic at the time, and we had to keep Twista out of this major city, one of his key markets, during the promotion of Adreneline Rush, because if we brought him or the single to one station before the other we’d be banned from whomever got it last. It was better to let both radio stations discover the record on their own and maybe play it and then pay whomever played it. Stupid, huh? But very real. Had I not been told this by Atlantic radio staff, I would have marched right into that city with Twista and fucked up radio, not just for him, but for Brandy, Aaliyah, Lil Kim, and the Braxtons, all of whom had radio records out from Atlantic at that same time. Radio is very sensitive and when they get pissed off, the whole label suffers because they pull all the songs. And with the huge conglomerates in radio now, it’s even scarier: you might piss off a Clear Channel station in a small town in the middle of nowhere, and your record gets pulled from 247 of the Top 250 markets around the country where they own radio stations. Radio is so sensitive, that in respect to Twista’s career I did not mention the city or the radio stations from 6 years ago for fear they would retaliate and not play his new record. Another example: I heard recently from an independent label in the Midwest that station personnel were banned from a local artist’s show because he performed at a club on a night sponsored by a competing radio station. The single was pulled from their radio station and the staff was told they could not attend the show. Welcome to the world of radio promo. The worst part is that the radio station most likely thought this small label understood the game (and they should have before stepping onto the playing field) and had gone to the competition purposely. The reality was they were just happy to perform in front of any crowd, no matter who sponsored the night.

More from Wendy Day:

I'm just back from the Bay Area again. Checking out the Hyphy Movement. The labels are scared. They think it's just a fad. But how can such a huge and passionate reaction be just a fad? I don't think it can be. I do understand how someone without their ear to the street, sitting in a glass tower in Manhattan could misinterpret it though. Watching the BDS and SoundScan of E-40 isn't a testament of the Hyphy Movement, it's a reflection of Warner Bros working a record. That's just MY opinion though.

I gotta tell ya...it was cool to see a Hyphy Show (Thizz Nation, Keak Da Sneak, Mistah F.A.B., Mac Mall, etc), but it was even cooler to meet Mista FAB's team. Sometimes, as I travel around the country, I meet the teams behind artists and am not impressed (including NY where the industry is based) because it's usually the artist's brother, or cousin, or neighbor's siter's brother's dog's uncle representing them. Then I met Stretch and Gary. I can't ever recall being so impressed with the level of industry knowledge, sheer drive and ability, and business acumen of any artist's representative before. They had me all fucked up. OK, I know I just offended every team everywhere around the US, but you gotta meet these guys in the Bay to understand what I'm saying. Not only do they know what they are doing, but they even know the inside industry gossip that like 10 people in the inner circle of the NY Urban Music industry know. Very, very impressive.

The best thing to do for all of us bay music industry people is keep it moving. We (Golden Mean) take the stance of we can operate and make moves without the majors....if we stay the course and keep doing are thing there will come a time where they recognize what we know, and what we can do...we always got to remember, we are trendsetters in this indy game. We showed the south how to do it! I dont need a major to sell records, I dont need a major to advance me a certain amount of dollars. When we start selling more...thats when they realize they NEED US...not the opposite.

You putting too much hype into your lungs with that “COONSPIRACY against the Pen”-talk. I never accused any1 of deleting anything… I’m a real nigga, this is only siccness.net. Here’s a Reality Check that wont bounce…You and your staff don’t make this site sizzle. It’s the 35,000 members that make this place entertaining. Thanks for granting me permission to leave..If we were all had feeble minds and left because we don’t agree, this site would be full of ass kissers, overzealous fans and your timid interviews. Instead of getting 5Thow-Wow I rather rattle the cages in this bitch.

Here are some examples of course I cant pull up deleted threads…
Behind The Scenes made a thread about exposing these fakes in the industry=Erased/Banned
IgoDummy thread about his contempt for Dj Pimp=Erased; Yet threads that besmirch other posters stay active.
Thanks for the phone number. In the future I’ll use it. Hopefully you aint the type of cat that will hold a grudge..I pretty much can disagree and still build’ with folks (it’s good for my complexion)… BTW, I hope it rains at the Siccness BarBQ
Have a good day!
real spit. this site is fulla industry people hiding behind fake names too try and persuade fans too catching an opinion on certain people that they dont like. if u think for one minute the people w/ the strongest opinion on your fav rappper is a " real" person it might just be label people or even your fav radio hosts. u dont have too explain how it isnt u. we all know who u are. the MODs can delete posts, the screenames when they get in hotwater, all that. but truth is known and as far as KMEL theres rats at your fuckin building. so all the shit u talk behind the names theres people reporting too ME for example telllin me who u are. but whatever. say hey where is ego crusher? anyone?

My Latin brotha, It would be silly for me to say who can & who cant enjoy Hip Hop. Maybe I gotta re-read my post because I dont remember giving "Blacks" the exclusive pass to Hip Hop.... My issue is with who Holds the POWER.
