As far as I know, it was the same story that happens with a lot of labels (No Limit, AWOL, etc.). The artists weren't getting paid what they should have been. Brotha Lynch has spoken on this in MURDER DOG interviews since '99.
Lynch said that Cedric Singleton (CEO of Black Market) didn't pay him what he was due for 24 DEEP, SEASON OF THE SICCNESS, LOADED and for his production on Mr. Doctor's SETRIPPIN BLOCKSTYLE. He said that when Black Market got a distribution deal with Priority for LOADED, that the pansies at Priority wanted Lynch to "clean up" his lyrics for the radio and shit, and Cedric played follow-the-leader with Priority's sentiments (which went against what he'd stated earlier).
Lynch and Cedric were involved in an ugly lawsuit for awhile--Cedric insisted that Lynch "owed" him two or more CDs according to his contract, and Lynch basically said, "give me the cash I deserve, you get the new material." Cedric started putting out fake Lynch CDs and promoted them as Lynch's "newest" works, when all they were was leftover tracks with other rapper's voices dubbed on them (EBK4 and THE VIRUS were two of these). Of course, Cedric gave the standard excuse of "well, I gotta get paid, this is a business, blah blah blah..." Cedric also did the same with X-Raided (putting out a "best of..." CD or something like that), infuriating X.
Not sure what the story (if any) was on, say, Mr. Doctor, Zagg, or the Cold World Hustlers (who were also on Black Market) but maybe someone more informed on them can answer your question further. PEACE!
