san jo is the bay area...anything past campbell it's not the bay area...
Parts of San Jose are south of Campbell. Campbell is just a little town in the middle of the huge city we call San Jo'. Drive down Bascom, BOOM, WELCOME TO CAMPBELL...then a few miles down...BOOM, WELCOME TO SAN JOSE. I live on the far south end of San Jose...we're still the south bay...and it takes me a 15 minute trip North on 85 to get to Campbell.

People seem to forget how much space San Jo' actually takes up. Take a trip up to Castle Rock and look East...you will see how much space San Jo' uses...and the 408...and you will see that the BAY actually extends right out to the 48! We are the BIGGEST CITY IN THE BAY! Actually, the biggest city in Northern California...we have hoods, we have burbs, we have everybody! Cats don't respect it, 'cause they don't see it...come live in San Jose for more than 2 or 3 years, and then you'll see what we're all about. It's all about success out here, by any means...we have no choice.

Wow. What fucken haters on here. Rap and gangsta shit on 2 completely different levels. Are you hood because of where you come from? Hell naw its tha way you live.
Exactly! Rap artists are supposed to be grown ass men delivering grown ass messages. Instead, it's all about how many shells are spent, what hood you come from, and how hard you can be. Hip-Hop Culture was meant to uplift an entire generation of people, not bring it down.

Y'all want to know what's "REAL"?? Some average joe who steps up with some skills and tells people the way that they live is bullshit! A lot of you cats think that "REAL" is another word for "GANGSTA"!! We're REAL out here...

I still don't understand how a rapper is gonna say he ain't from the bay and from San Jo just cause the street life (c's b's) are more similar to that of the valley's lol.
It wuz more than that... back n tha day alotta Sj folcz wuz funkin' wit the 'sco, epa, and oakland... so it wuz a rallying cry of sorts to be on sum, "I ain't from the bay so call me a player killa" type hype... Oh yeah, I forgot to mention Seaside as another city that had ties to Sj (along w/Sac & Stockton), so it wasn't the fact that it wuz more similar to the valley's street life, just Cali / West Coast in general... Add that to the fact that most sets in the mentioned cities had ties to LA, and there you have it...

Um... wut else.. A lotta Sj folcz felt there wuz a lack of recongition given by their East/West bay cuzzins... The only bay rappers I remember back in the day (when Pac wuz alive) sending a shoutout to Sj was D-Moe on his first album, and Mac Dre.... However, Sac wuz different... on C-Bo's first album Gaschamber - he sent a shoutout to a specific hood -7 trees- which at it's peak wuz one the deepest Crip sets in N.Cali...

I'll see wut I can do about getting you access to them songs cuz they give alotta insight on some Sj history... I should be able to upload them soon..

Nowadays we even got cats from Gilroy rappin about East Oakland sideshows, so I don't think we gonna have any problem with there not being enough San Jose rappers claiming Bay lol... I personally would consider San Jose to be a part of the bay.... hence the term 'Southbay'..

'sides, the city of San Jose been talkin' about building a Bart station for only the last 20 years or so...

maybe then folks'll rap about goin' dumb on the Bart

But anywayz, fuck all this divide and conquer shit cuz that only hurts us all in the end... while uncle Sam and his big copoorate pimps profit offa brothas losing they lives from both ends of the strap... we fightin' over territory we don't own and the government sponsored dope they let us drown in...

San Jo' cats, from what I've gathered by talking to 'em, don't want to sound Bay. The Bay sound, for nearly a decade, has been a local sound. It's not as big as most think...it gets recognition, but it doesn't get the support that other regions get. We're artists who come from an expensive ass city...we want to cater to as many folks as we can without losing our individuality and creativity. When I sit in the studio with a producer from San Jose, like KillahMo, the first thought is, "what is it that people AREN'T doing out here?"...when we figure it out, we do exactly what everybody else isn't.

For the most part, that isn't hard to do...because the majority of cats out here in the bay are ridin' on the same bus!

I gotta disagree with you...San Jo has it's unique style...

the only thing that's setting back san jo is those "SAN JOSE OUTSIDERS" ...fools calling themselves the king of the 408..talking about going hyphy in oakland and wearing stupid clown shades and etc...

that's the reason why san jo can't be respected in the music game...because if the fans from other regions see that..they automatically will think that's what san jo is about...

HE USED TO BE DOPE, BUT I FEEL HIS STYLE IS STILL THE SAME, SO MEANING ITS NOW DATED. GREAT ORIGINAL VOICE. OG TYPE RAPS
I appreciate all that was shared on here, and thru the PMs. I make no excuses and applaud you for having the courage to give your opinion without any hesitation, second guessing, or malice behind your words. The Northern California rap scene has been saturated, and has been about bullshit for the last few years. There was a time, that one had to be a solid type cat to put out an album, but nowadays anyone and everyone seems to be rapping and putting out wack records. This is a craft, and one that is a master, or considers themselves to be a master of this craft must ask the question, "What is thier motivation, and/or what are they in it for?" Some are in it to just be seen by people, some to get pussy, some to get rich, some to just pay bills and be comfortable. Some for all the above reasons. Again I will state, I am not here to intergrate with none of the shit that others are doing. I can be Reese, and only Reese. You will not see me Hyphy, you will not see me using the newest slang that may be out. I keep it OG cause I was one of the last generations that came up under that real G shit. So while some choose to wear them sparkly shirts with the fruity color hoodys, you will see me in some creased jeans, t-shirt, and a ball cap. Thats me, straight lace, no chaser. I aint never been one to follow trends. There is a market for my shit, and I will keep making the music I like, for my fanbase. I think this is where folks get it twisted. When it all comes down to it, you are an artist. You make music to what you feel, and what you do, you know? Umless you in it just to make money, cause if you are then yes, you gotta cater to folks. Me on the other hand, I do what I like. If you like it, cool, if you dont, cool. It will sell, I will pay bills, and my babies will go shopping off me rhyming some words together. Thats what I see and care about. Supplement to my income, and provide music for my folks, the old and the new that love to hear them "OG raps". I been gone from this shit for 3 years. Poppin in and out of different projects as a guest, but 3 years since I have been really "rappin" During that time I had some self reflection, and joined the Nation under Hon. Minister Louis Farrakhan (Saviours Day in Detroit this past weekend was a beautiful thing) . This new album will be some different shit, I can tell you that much. Its on some gansta shit, but if you really listen you will hear a message in it, and references to the lost-found Nation in the West.

Rolando, you are a solid brother, and again, I thank you for your words, and your honesty. I dont know if Sydal is gonna thank you, but I do.... Naw, kus fuckin with you...Its always good to laugh a little....
