Does it mean the camera doesn't have enough megapixels? I notice when it's darker, it's usually worse. Can you lower shutter speed to improve that when it's dark?

I took a picture at the highest resolution too (2816x2120), in the day time, and it still was grainy/noisy. Resizing doesn't help it.

Side note: I got a CD from a disposable Kodak I developed at Walgreens. The daytime pictures were sharp and weren't noisy at all. They were crisper than the ones from the digital camera. However, the nighttime ones were very very grainy.

your shutter is to high to the f stop you have set, could be your iso though to, but your shutter is to high your not letting enough light in for the exposure you have. what would it have to do with a dirty lens or a tripod?
