Ive been been doing some research on the MV-8000 from Roland... I really like it alot, and the specs on it look pretty damm good to me. Im probly gona cop one here pretty soon, but i just wanted to know other peoples opinions on it before i fork over 2G's for it...thanks alot yall--- :beard:

When I was going to snatch the mpc 4000 I looked into this unit as well. It's pretty tight and has features I wouldn't use (like the 8 track recorder) but it can read various file formats. Have you tried searching google for reviews from users and owners? HARMONY CENTRAL should have some.

im not a fan of roland products after messing with the RS-7000

^^^ the rs 7000 is a tight machine. You have one? Roland products are cool if you like the sound. The company needs to stop rehashing products (the have like 4000000 vs recorders) but making music with the equipment is easy.


How do you think the rs 7000 compares to the motif?

a friend of mine has one, and i went over their and spent a few days teaching him how to use it. i just wasnt feeling the sounds and the effects on their seemed too digital for my taste and didnt seem natural. i told him that he would have been better off buying an mpc or something else with that same price and used samples. (mind you, he wanted to use alot of the pre-sets and do limited sound editing) and when we loaded samples it just seemed to take forever and it wasnt real user friendly. and for some reason he was hell bent on using those smart media cards to save everything. it just seemed like a waste of money to me.

as comparing it to the motif, i was only able to work with the rack and it was one of the first ones to come out, so i dont think i can really make an informed decision on that, but from the time spent, i liked the motif better. i was going to buy one, but then ended up buying a K-STATION and then ended up selling all of my hardware all together and going strickly software and sample based.

another thing about the RS-7000 is that i didnt feel inspired working with it, it felt like i was working with an electribe or something. maybe i just didnt unlock the secret powers of it so for all i know i could be bass ackwards, but im pretty sure i gave it a thorough go through before i decided i didnt like it.
