What do you do when you encounter "rap fans?" You know the people I'm talking about. The ones that think san quinn and twista are new rappers. Or the ones that think that brotha lynch hung is an asian rapper( brotha LYN Chung).

Do you put them all up on game? Or do you let it slide?

Me, I usually let it slide unless they piss me off. For instance, someone told me that they only listened to real rap not underground. apparently real rap is on the radio and "fake rap" isn't. So i let this hoe know that 99.999999% of rap is underground. I put them up on clear channel and their evilistic ways. I let them know that over half of rappers they love started out underground(Jay-z, cash money no limit). And the worst part about is that he still didn't fucking understand.

I also hate dealing with people from towns where they have rappers. They get hated on by people in their own hoods. EPA cats don't even like chunk or Sic or anyone. Obviously not ALL of them but a good majority won't listen or buy the shit and pass it off as Weak. fuck that.

what do you all do when some dumbshit tries to tell you lil' jon invented get low?

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

"This is the realest shit I ever spoke!" <YOU

Man oh man...I was just talking about this last night with my boy Carlos...to be 100% honest, I'm about the only KNOWLEDGABLE 'rap/hip hop fan' in my town...I can say that because I grew up here and know everyone...and they are ALL dummies.

"Twista, you know...that new rapper...he's pretty good. He's going to be real good!"

Yeah...about 10 years too late, dummy.

And I can honestly say that I'm the ONLY person in JACKPOT NEVADA who listens to Mac Dre, Brotha Lynch Hung, Doja Click, E-40, Too Short, The Luniz, Ras Kass, Crooked I, San Quinn, Equipto, and MANY OTHER GREAT ARTISTS.

No one here's heard of Tech Nine...X-Raided...C-Bo...

I've had to specially order Mac Dre cd's...Brotha Lynch Hung cd's...now some Southern Idaho folks are buying Brotha Lynch, I've heard...they think he's a 'dope new rappper'...lol.

I could go on and on and ramble even more than I just did...but I am just speechless sometimes with these dummies.

Generally speaking, 9 times out of 10 it's probably not "hating" because 9 times out of 10 the shit probably is weak.

there is a serious lack of true fans I have gotten in arguments with people who told me Yukmouth fell off after "I Got 5 On It" and they aint never heard "Thugged Out" or "UGA"

the main problem is a lot of so called "fans" rely on MTV/BET or the radio to tell them who is hot and who is not. They dont know thath they are only getting like 1% of the artist out they think whatever 5 rappers Target or whoever advertise are the only cds coming out. Its like they dont even have a brain and they let the media tell them what to listen to.

Artist affiliation plays a big part in it too look at Da Band, Chingy and Cassidy going gold and platinum how are you going to tell me they are putting out better music that Quinn, Mess, C-Bo or Yuk and the real niggas is just sellin 50K units

I cant count how many times people have called the shit I listen to wack because the niggas aint on the radio and as soon as they blow up the be on the nigga dick ie... Lil Flip I was bumpin his shit before "Way we Ball" came out and peeps was like "who the fuck is that he cant rap" and now they run out to get "U Got to Feel Me"

I could go on all day but the thing is GAME RECOGNIZE GAME and REAL FANS know REAL MUSIC

true thats why i use the net to look on american sites and forums for releases...

cos the UK doesnt get many hiphop/rap releases and mtv and all the music channels hardly play the vids..unless u watch base late in the night and watch the raw programme on there, u might get to see some good vids.

thats why i use the net it exposes more artists and i get the chance to listen to artists i would never of heard of if i stuck to mtv and shit...

oh and the price in hmv for imported albums suck......£20 for some shit... Nate Dogg G-Funk Classics 2cd was like 32.99...that works out like arnd $60... i fnd it on the net for 9.99 which is abt $18...

big difference, i get all my cd's off play.com....they have a good catalogue of hip hop normally...with new UK laws we cant buy cd's from the USA or some shit cos they cheaper and that so that will stop me from gettin some shit...but it hasnt so far...i been lucky...

thats why ima get a load of cd's next week, im in NYC all next week so ima pick up a load of cd's...

Real talk. I couldn't have said that better myself! I usually try to school people to the real when they show ignorance; the truth is some folks get it, but a lot don't. America in general is so TV-based and so "keeping up with the joneses"-oriented that I think a lot of people just don't understand the purpose of thinking for themselves and not letting TV/radio dictate to you. I read some of the reviews that people write for Bay Rap CDs on places like Amazon.com and other websites, and it seems that a lot of European Rap fans appreciate the Bay, Central and Southern Cali, the Northwest, etc., more than Americans do!

PEACE!

I have that same problem, thanks to my female friends i got turned onto alot of gothic, punk & emo...only problem is importing cds is rather expensive...Thursday's war all the time (12 track version) runs about 41.99 & Queen adreena cds are about 35 a pop...so its rather expensive

great post!! man i could write all day about this topic and how it frustrates me. i play college baseball with a bunch of dudes from socal and they don't think the bay is about shit until i gave one of them a tour around frisco haha. he was like wow!

these dudes have heard of 40, nickatina and have heard songs by quinn even they don't know it's him haha. i get this shit a lot with this whole get low thing! people ask why i don't like lil jon and them and i let em know the real deal. and also how he just yells (yaaaaaa, whaaaaaaaattt, okkkkkkk) another thing that i go out of my way to educate these folks that aint knowin. i'm always hearing the song ayo for yayo at house parties or whatever so i'll go up to some dude when i'm drunk as fuck and ask him who's this rappin right here. they laugh and be like "NICKATINA!!!!" that's when i throw in my 2 cents and make em be like " o shit i never realized that it was san quinn rappin but ya nickatina come real tight though in the song!" i could go on and on but i'm gonna stop right here.
