I agree with the garbage part, but it isn't recycled. Obviously you're saying that it came from Crunk, which it didn't. Too Short and 40 were the only niggas fuckin with Lil Jon at the time when Hyphy started and neither of them created it, it's unique. But it's over used and a lot of the songs coming out now are just fucking trash. I'm almost starting to be ashamed to represent this Bay Area rap shit, the view of us right now can't be good. This was the biggest mistake in Bay history and i'm a little angry with E-40 and Warner Bros. We lost all the underground cred we had coz every body tryin desperatley to get in this hyphy shit and make club songs. Even the old hardcore rappers like Celly Cel and Keak (remember, keak used to be mobed out) are just totally out of character now. Too Short is the last hope imo. Hope he puts out some good music on his next shit.
That's true but I'm happy that the bay is actually recognized as a region in rap. As I said before I remember when the radio stations in the bay didn't play any music from here. We had that classic mob music now it's the hyphy thing. You guys would rather have nobody know us than this hyphy movement? I'm sick of hearing people from other regions coming on our stations and don't even know about our music.
There are cats here in the bay making that mobb music still. I think the hyphy thing gives the bay an identity which we didn't have before. It's unique. We are so diverse out here. We have people making that hyphy sound, then we have the backpack music, the mobbed out shit, underground, gangsta, many other genres.
No other region has that. People from the bay who isn't feeling the hyphy movement should really just appreciate that the bay is on the map once again. When this hyphy thing dies out (if it does) that's when the real mc's can step out.
