No doubt, they love our shit, and if they don't, go by a fif of hen, a "steve young" (eigth) of some purp, or whatever floats your boat, and they'll feel that bay shit. I put my cuzo's from dirty jerz onto Pac back in "brenda's got a baby" era. They been pac fans ever since. They came through in 2003 and I put them on that new hyphy movement, and they were feelin' it, especially at mission rock. There is no promotion like word of mouth, spread the movement, its our turn.

There's one major flaw with all these claims that basically any city you name loves bay area rap... The numbers don't back it up! One little handful of people who like something doesn't mean the entire region is dick-riding it.

I've said it before, name any city... The rappers and loyal fans who live there swear their shit is the hottest on the planet and everyone else is just riding nuts & biting.

Nothin' is gonna change until cats get off their own dick and start being smart about how they do business.

From whenever I get my calls from the show we do on SIRIUS. People are receptive to Bay Area Music as long as it's hot. Joint that do very well on my show are:

Federation - I only wear my white tees once
Mac Dre - Feeling Myself
Keak The Sneak - Superhyphy
E 40 - Da Dummy

All joints that were played during Bomb Bay Radio and translated into requests that made the format managers put these songs in Rotation.

Other joints that get requests from OUTSIDE THE BAY.

Jacka - Girls Say
Messy Marv - That's Whats Up
Mistah F.A.B - Super Sick Wid It
Big Rich - Meet The Dealers

Everything that is OLD to US, is BRAND NEW to someone in TX or someone whos listening out in VA. Belive it or not, I get a majority of my calls from VA, KANSAS, LA and of course the BAY / SACRAMENTO.

Also, here is a great secret that all of you must know...

Management gets a copy of every request that is sent to my e mail at sirius. [email protected].

So please speak up for our region, send in what you want to hear and management sees it all.

Thanks to everyone who has supported this bay movement tough. Lets get it poppin! We need the spotlight back on us.

I am trying my hardest, spending my own money traveling back and forth from the bay to ny to make sure they know how sirius this movement is. I do the show from here in the bay, but I go out there at least once a month to show face and bring them back goodies like Ruckus Mags, Richmond Gone Wild DVDs, Recognize The Bay T Shirts, Bay Mixtapes... They gotta know about it,they gotta see it... THIS IS THE BAY DAMNIT. THE BIRTHPLACE OF GAME.

wisconsin???come on now?!?!?LOL!!Wisconsin dont count..
When bay artists actually find their way to store shelves in Wisconsin, its copped immediately. And if there was a steady flow being sold here i guarantee Wis would be one of the top purchasers of bay area shit outside of the west. And just because your mom shit out a turd named you wherever you are doesnt put you above anyone from Wis or anywhere else. Sick of this fucking city/state trippin.

for the bay to blow up like it was in the 90's though i think peoples are gonna have to change up there style a little. Same goes for diego. Noone is really blowing up around here because of a couple reasons...a big one i think is that it's so easy to get music for free that people aren't dropping dollars on the product there area is putting out. The majority of the people who are buying music (particularly woman)...aren't the type of people that are going to be listening to mob music . Whats popular now is shit that gets the clubs poppin and girls shakin there ass. Mob music simply does not do that. Mob music gets locals bumpin the shit out there trunk...and thats where it primarily stays...local.

The south blew up because that is shit that can get the club hype, get bitches dancing and can be bumped in the ride...it's more universal. I remember i was at a party, they had shit playing like drop it like it's hot and get tipsy and what not. Some dude throws in some jayo felony. Real shit i hear some bitch next to me say "whats this...this is NOT bangin..." , the girls stopped dancing and therefore another cd had to be put in. The big record labels know this shit thats why noone is investing high amounts of money into mob music anymore. Back when peoples couldn't get music for free it didnt matter if a bitch wasn't feelin it because all the dudes were and still had to pay for it

What bay area song has really gotten alot of universal shine recently? Mac Dre-Thizzle dance , why? Because girls will dance to it, It gets the club hype, it has a simple catchy gimic "get stupid" and dudes can still bump it in the ride with respect. In 2005 those 4 traits are the recipe for success

I'm in the Air Force so like dude that was in the army I have met people from all over the country and really most of them can't name more than like three bay rappers and I have not found hardly anyone that likes E-40 (I personally think hes one of the best ever out of the bay) most people that I've talked to that have ever listened to mac dre did not like it at all (either do I though) one person that a lot of people like though was San Quinn there really feelin his shit and these people that I've had listen to any of this aint people that just listen to mainstream these people are some real rap heads they just don't have any exposure to any of the new bay shit but almost all of them like all the old bay shit Too Short,Rappin-4-Tay,Cbo,the old Brotha Lynch,The Click,Mac Mall and so on.

I agree, but I think the reason is that you can't make fans if you they cant match a name with a face. If you look at rappers from other regions that are popular in the bay, they come out here or have videos. The has become the age of exposure more so than an era of quality music. IMO, bay artist don't do enough to expose themselves to create new fans, but they do make good music. I don't have the answers, but it seems like we need to step up our marketing game.

Rock from Heltah Skeltah and J Zone both LOVE the bay. My boy from the East Coast interviewed them for his documentary and they both said they listen to more rap from the Bay than anywhere else. I think that shit is hella cool, cause it aint too often that you hear East Coasters show love to the Bay.

how many of the people on here would be opened minded to other regions of music like they expect them to be to bay music? if you from the bay, would you be on a underground South messageboard cuz you was feelin their music? or would you automatically dismiss it cuz it aint from your region?

..just wondering

songs here in the bay might not be appealing to people from other areas bcuz clubs here, when they hear bay music... guys start to dance with guys and girls dance with girls or sometimes girls dont even dance at all... there's no more "freaking" in dances when it comes to bay music... i.e. mac dre songs like thizz dance... and some people's, especially the girls, purpose of going to clubs is to get their grind on... not to see a bunch of dudes in a circle dancing with each other...
