thats style was stolen from the west Coast, I know some of you are too young to know all the songs but before like 93 94 the east coast used to say they hated our music cuz we did sample and replay music and hip hop was supposed to be original beats, Then those same people realized that shit didnt sell! man Im guna say this right now every so called Hip-Hop artist wants to go Commercial! Every artist WANTS to be On The radio and TV.. Examples Nas talks about jayz talkin about his money and riches and he is too commercial, but before "Stillmatic this nigga did songs and videos with Puffy in Minks and shit throwing around Money, and before that the nigga Nas did a song with R. Kelly talkin about "Did you ever think you'd be this Rich?" Straight contradiction! Look at Mos Def & Pharoh didnt blow until they went and got Nate Dogg wit "Oh No" Nate Dogg on a Rawkus album WOW! Bottom Line that old "Keep It real" to real hip hop shit will Keep it Real Broke!!!!

Good words from chuck...

on another note...some of you have to realize that this site is a VERY SMALL PERCENTAGE of people with oppinions on albums & people who purchase albums. So when comments like "your only 2 out of everyone" are made we need to think broader than that.

I dont think they WANT to be commercial. I think they are forced to be commercial if they want to make it "BIG." And Mos and Pharoah were big way before Nate Dog folks, maybe you never heard of 'em or they wasnt on the radio a thousand times like the typical commerical cat but they was far from unknown. Plus a lot of those so-called "hiphop" cats have a bigger fan base overseas then here bcuz people there seem to have a higher threshold for diversity, origniality and experimentation when it comes to music.

ya i feel ya, if u were referring to me, i said or if i didn't say, i meant u r in a very small minority here (this board). shit i bet if u asked people off this board what they think about the album, there would probably be waaaaaaayyy more good then bad reviews because this album isn't meant for us even though there is some hardass songs. it's a goodass album that can appeal to a widerange audience. the album is meant to appeal to the mass which u know already. quinn jumped out of the underground level on this one with the singles which are getting spins here as well as in other cities. the average bay area radio listener knows who san quinn is, there's no doubt about that one.

Are you sure about that? Quinn hasn't even touched the KUBE/Seattle playlist. And i dont remember him being played in Portland or Boise either (i could be wrong).

if by "average", you mean the immediate bay area....perhaps. But if you mean nationwide....or even west of the mississippi....or even west COAST......not hardly.

Why do i have to make a brand new sound?

Why is someone a hater because they don't like something?

Sampling was not invented on or stolen from the West Coast. Rap mixed with old soul and funk samples is what defined New York hip hop, one of the first ever rap records to be released was Sugar Hill Gang rhymin on Chic, then in the 80's it was James Brown and the west coast used to sample George Clinton. This is how hip hop started in the Bronx but its 2004 and its a lazy way to makes beats.

Theres one dude here sayin the Quinn cd wasnt meant for the Bay and another guy sayin this is Bay area shit so keep out.

and most of you are sayin, Quinn made this album cos he wanted to go commercial, in part agreeing with me that this Quinn has delicate beats.

I like the first track on Quinn for whoever asked but even the 2nd track sounds a bit like "In Da Club"

so yea whatevers

I think people are blinded by loyaltys to the area

and shit im not sayin that Z-Ro is the best cd i ever heard, but Mike Deans beats are shit load more inventive than the beats on Quincy

I think by the Quinn cd trying to be more mainstream can only help him because maybe that's the reason we haven't been getting our shine on because people have labeled Bay Area music as sounding like it used to. A few artists here in the Bay have made some noise and it helps us all. But seriously don't knock the next man.

imma have to say i love quinn and i hella want the man to blow up , but this album the production, i swear was lackin, there was no tracks that made me get hyphy, the entire album had a soft feel to it, like it was tryin to hard to be mainstream, if quinn blows up on this, that means all his albums gotta be like that 2 maintain his status, which aint koo, i, as a loyal bay fan wanna keep shit bay and have him blow up off bay style, not imitation east coast shit

to those talking down on the production: this album sounds far from east coast haha. actually if u got someone who didn't know who san quinn was they would not think the beats sounded like they're east coast at all. u guys are trippin off that shit when the production is fine. the album was tight even if it didn't have the bay area sound to it. it had it's own sound to it, what's wrong with that? there might have been 2 maybe 3 beats at the most that i wasn't feelin.
