Vernon Davis = Bust or Not?

yea hes a bust, i think the niners should trade him to the vikings for a 7th round pick and a sack of potatoes :cheeky: He plays on a boo boo team, put him on a team with a decent quarterback and a OC who knows how to use a TE and he'd be tearin shit up

i havent given up on him yet but i dont see how a new qb and oc will help him catch the ball

i think we need a lil better definition of a bust...

Alex smith = BUST....although i do think theres a possiblilty he can get it 2gether...but he pretty much has no choice but to accept the label at this point in his career..

VD...give him the rest of this year..and part of next, 2 really decide...he isnt really in the best situation ...

gallery is not a bust...neither is huff...and neither is russell..

THESE GUYS ACTUALLY START AND ARE CONTRIBUTING...

huff and gallery may not be playing according to their high draft status but, they still are starting and contributing...

russell is basically a rookie...end of story...ill tell you this much tho...he doin better than VY!!!

^yeah.....although huff is teetering on the edge of bustness, but Gallery has proven to be productive with zone blocking, he's just not worthy of a number 2 overall pick yet. Russell only has like 8 starts, so its too early to say bust.

define bust? how many times is he supposed to get the ball? looking at his stats last year he touched it just less than 5 times per game and recorded 4 touchdowns with a 9.8 yard average..is that supposed to be bad for a TE???

for one of the highest TEs ever taken yes it is supposed to be bad...he is the biggest receving threat on the team and still cant get into the endzone regularly...

he hardly contributes in the passing game enough to give him credit for being a legitament threat...

hes producing less then some "2nd string" TEs....

to say VD is anywhere near worth what yall took him at...is outrageous.....

the only thing yall can argue is the "potential" he has.....because thats all of it so far

i dont consider himself a bust.....but he hasnt been worth were he was taken....he is not an elite TE when he was drafted to be one....period

best blockin TE in the league period....when gore broke that long run to the goal line where he was flagged for face mask davis was the FB and blew the hole open....lackin on the recieving end but he rarellygets out on pass routes, hes being used as a blocker...most of gores big runs davis is a big factor in blocking for him...i wouldnt call him a bust i would call it a bad observation by the niners to draft him as high as they did....i see him being a big factor in another year or two as a total package TE...i would love to see him and delanie walker race in about a 60 yard dash...

he is great at blocking but not nearly the best blocking TE in the leauge...maybe not even top 5
