I find it bizarre how so many people seem to act like the entire city of Oakland is some horrible ghetto place. Yeah, there are some "bad" neighborhoods here, but there are also bad neighborhoods in San Francisco and every other big city everywhere. There are many nice/average neighborhoods here in Oakland too... plenty of shopping, parks, restaurants, bars/pubs, and other nice places to go...

Rockridge, Temescal, Lake Merritt, Lakeshore/Grand Lake, Piedmont Ave, Jack London/Uptown, Montclair, the hills/Mills College area.... oh, and the Golden Gate Shopping District is also an up-and-coming area with some nice shops/businesses... Chinatown is cool too; some good places for Dim Sum and shopping... And to be honest, I don't think Fruitvale is so bad either, it's really not that different from the Mission District in SF which everybody loves.

Anyway, the point is, there's plenty to do in Oakland. The whole "no there there" thing is nonsense.

a) Most people only see it from 880, 80 or BART
b) The rappers these people listen to are only familiar with the ghetto
c) Even if the rappers know better, they capitalize on the street cred they get because it helps sell albums to suburban white teenagers

Leave this girl alone...She's young and is growing up in somewhat of a spotlight that she may not be ready for at the moment.....V-Nasty grew up in the streets of Oakland where alot of people (especially on the sicc) would feel uncomfortable....And yes the parts of Oakland that she is most familar with, are full of liquor stores and trouble...

Most Oakland artists, not all glamourize the murders and hard streets of Oakland...Not many Rappers from Oakland talk about the nice parts of oakland...And when fab came out everybody was hating cuz he was from North Oakland, and people questioned how ghetto or hood it was there.....

Why is it such a big deal when she talks about how hood oakland is, when its been done for decades by other artists.....

About the nigga thing 2...In the bay, I have heard every race there is say the word..Quit hatin on this girl, she's just being her...Like you cats say...Let this bitch cook!!!!!!!!!!

wow she needs a spoke person for real bc she been saying all the wrong things lately. she basically buried oakland as a city. Also why she gotta down people that work at mc donalds? I dont have no problems with anyone who works at mc donalds atleast they have a job. if i wasnt blessed and had options or oppurtunities that i had you damn sure bet i would be applying at mc dees at the drive thru lol. She gonna be applying for a fast food job in a couple years bc her rap career wont take off or last.

She's stupid I kick it in oakland all the time. The in door flea market is like a mall lol... evert and jones, hit the indoor flea market, then an a's game then hit alameda beach. That's a nice day in the town. Eastmont mall does fucking suck tho I remember when they had sears and montomery wards now it might as well be a flea market

Maybe because other Oakland rappers actually appreciate where they're from and don't shit on it? There's a lot of reasons to be proud to be from Oakland even if you're from the hood. And speak for yourself, I'm in the streets of Oakland every day.

People who talk shit about the North have only been on Telegraph... tell me what it's like on Stanford or Adeline or San Pablo Avenue at night.

Are you proud that those streets you mentioned are crazy at night? That's exactly what she's saying is that there is nothing much to see in the turfs of Oakland. She didn't day she hates Oakland, did she?

lots of people from lots of different walks of life think oakland is boring/not a lot of shit going on. i differ from them in opinion, but that's subjective.
