for yall rappers out there...which would you prefer...staying underground or being mainstream...
heres how i feel about both...
Underground
pros:
you get to do what u want, u dont have an upper authority tellin u what to do. in other words...freedom to do what U want...make the music U want to make
u can stay lo-pro wit your shit...as far as not being in the spotlight, media, and other controversy that comes wit being big
you can live a normal life with your family and dont have to be everywhere and do everything that comes with makin it big (Tv apperances, Autograph signings, Music vids,) even tho the an underground artist CAN do all of these things
not being recognized EVERYWHERE u go (if thats how u want it to be)
Cons:
not makin AS much money as mainstream artist
fan base is smaller
you dont get the fame and popularity as much as mainstream artists
Mainstream
pros:
makin BIG money
gettin fame (if thats what your intended to do)
...thats basically it for pros
Cons:
having a million things to do allday (if u look at that as being bad)
your in the spotlight 24-7
your product may be watered down from what record labels and fan base want u to do
the problems that come with fame and money
to me, I think i'd rather keep it underground than being mainstream..I'm more the type of person to stay low, do what i do, and live a normal life...plus u can make a pretty penny off just pushin your product alone...also, im not the type to be all flashy, id rather keep it grimey...if i had the chance to buy a Escalade or an Ol skool id go for the ol skool anyday...plus i think all the hype and maintenance being mainstream would water down my personality...
so all in all, If your an underground rapper dont always look at is as your somebody tryna make it...do your thizz, live how u want and recognize u gotta stay comfortable whether u make it big or not...
