The UFC isn't even the best MMA organization, Pride is better so I'm taking boxing here.
MMA has yet to mature and reach the level of competition found in boxing.
It's just way too young of a sport right now to even compare the two.
The rules still need to be balanced out a bit as they currently favor submission fighters. How ever I do expect MMA to surpass boxing in terms of popularity at some point.
Of course, that's assuming that the sport loses it sports entertainment like organizational system and adopts a more liberal system similar to boxing....
