First...Couture is a natural heavyweight. He stepped down in weight cuz the real heavies would wreck him.

Second...Liddell is not on a "whole" nother level. He is a Class B fighter.

I agree though...Tito got his ass handed to him.

I'm shocked as anyone else is.
I didn't catch this event but I've read about it and I'll watch it sometime this weekend.
But from what I hear, Tito fought Chuck's fight.
Very bad mistake....

It goes to show the quality of Pride's fighters over the UFC,
Quinton Jackson handed an easy ass whoopin to Liddel and now Liddel takes out what was the second best light heavy weight in the UFC....

And props to Nick Diaz for knocking out over rated Lawler....

I just gotta touch on a few things brought up here. To whomever said Liddell Was a B class fighter, that is crazy. Chuck has been a force in MMA for years and his only loses of recent are to Rampage and Couture. He destroyed Randleman,Mezger,Overeem, and Babalou who just won the IFC Light Heavy Tourney beating Jeremy Horn in the process. Chuck also has wins over Pele and Vitor. The guy is a top tier fighter no doubt.

Also Tito did make attempts to shoot in on Chuck but Chuck was all over them.
I think this is one of those match ups were a fighter has the other guys number. I have talked with people that have seen them roll and spar and all have the same story of Chuck dominating.

Cabbage has an amazing jaw, but to let the fight go on would just be a diservice to him and the a sport that is still trying to become legal in all 50 states. He was getting mopped up and had very little chance of winning the fight.

Props to Nick Diaz, at the rate he is going by the time he is 25 he will be running things. The shot he finished Lawler with didnt even look that hard.

My boy Yves Edwards got a very close decision over Hermes Franca. This fight won me $180. Look for Yves to get a tittle shot soon.

Big Wes Simms appeared to have suffered a bite in his KO loss to Mike Kyle. The bite is one thing, but what was BS was when McCarthy stood them back up Simms has his back turned and Kyle is already coming across the cage. If you are going to break the fighters you have to make sure they are both ready to go. Another example of the UFC ref's dropping the ball.

Here's what I think is the only statement Tito has made since the fight, it's from MMA.tv's UG Forum...

...stronger.First I want to thank all my fans for the support. I fell good for this fight. Until the accidental thumb in the eye. You cant call time out and I almost did. Chuck seen that I was hurt and captiolize on it. It sucks that had happen but it was Chuck's night. He fought a better fight. I am a very stubborn person and did what I was going to do"Stand Up" with him. It might have been the wrong thing to do but I wanted to prove all those who say I couldnt stand with him wrong. I fell fine the first round. This fight was a learning experance for me. I just took out the stichies this morning and my eye I is still sore but training will began on monday. The road back for Tito Ortiz is a little longer but I never had anything easy in life, so this is the better way for me. God has a big plan for each of us in life . We just have to pervail when it is time. I want to thank all of you for the support. Tito Ortiz "

Best of luck to Tito in the future.

Tito Ortiz VS. Chuck Liddell

That fight went pretty much how I thought it would. You could just see the difference in the way they both made their entrance to the ring. Liddell was smilin the whole way and just had a look in his eyes like he was ready. On the otherhand you have Tito Ortiz walkin in with Vargas yellin in his ear tryin to motivate him. So, really for those who are shocked shouldn't be. Even if Tito would've taken Liddell down at any point durin the fight I'm sure Liddell would've gotten right back up and continued on with his strikin. It was only a matter of time until Liddell would land a good shot...and that he did. For that matter he landed about 10 of em.

Arlovski VS. Cabbage

I knew that Cabbage would be able to withstand a number of punches, but there comes a time when enough is enough. Cabbage just couldn't get off through the whole fight. Arlovski was way too quick for him. I understand that people want to see a knockout, but the ref has a duty and that's to protect the fighters. And like many have said...Cabbage wasn't even complainin about the stoppage.

Diaz VS. Lawler

I didn't see this one comin at all. Diaz seemed real confident or even cocky, but I really thought that Lawler would be able to connect with a vicious shot at some point. I give credit to Diaz for not backin down from the challenge. Everyone just needs to remember that both these fighters are young. Lawler 22 and Diaz 20. So, these two have a good future with the U.F.C. or anywhere else they fight.

Edwards VS. Franca

This was a good fight that could've gone either way, but I thought in the end Franca did enough to pull it off. He tried quite a bit of submissions, but never was able to capatolize on them. To Edwards credit he was able to fight off all the submission and stay busy on top. I guess really it could've gone either way, but the fight I saw I thought Franca did enought to pull off the victory.

Sudo VS. Brown

Anytime Sudo fights it's goin to be interestin to watch. I thought Brown did a good job for the most part of not lettin Sudo's antics get to him, but in the end he just didn't do enough. Sudo trapped him and could've either gone for the triangle choke, but instead went for the armbar. I think U.F.C. needs to keep Sudo around. I guess his 3 fight deal is up so we'll see.

Kyle VS. Sims

I had a feelin this fight would be dirty in one way or another, but I wasn't sure who would be the one doin the dirty stuff. Either way a win is a win I guess. I do give Sims credit for steppin up and takin this fight on 1 days notice. It looks like Ricco Rodriguez wants a piece of Kyle next so we'll have to see what happens.

So, that's pretty much my take on most of the fights. I've been a fan of the U.F.C. since the first event so that's why I wrote as much as I did. I look forward to watchin U.F.C 48 where Ken Shamrock takes on Kimo and Barroni takes on Tanner. Tito wants to fight Lee Murray in that one, but it looks like that won't happen till August. So, see ya next time!!!
