i like white girl as a single too but i dont think yay area is too local tho cuz he jus shoutin out to his soil but he talkin bout shit everybody could understand not jus people in the bay. "never tell a bitch wut u up to, cuz one day she might tell on u". they got singles like "Georgia" and "New York New York" that was national so y not Yay Area
yay area wouldnt be a success. in fact, it'd be a fuck up cuz of the fact that it is too local & theres no "big" names on that track to make that blow up. (thinking mainstream) you gotta remember, this is SINGLES were talkin about that the NATION is gonna be listenin to and hopefully followin.. you need big mainstream names featuring on it & you need a club hit especially if your barely gettin in the mainstream level... features+a good/catchy track folx can follow to = good single.

also, you gotta remember who was on the "georgia" and "new york, new york" tracks to make it a success... u had big mainstream names that can get their singles pushed by evry media outlet. they got their names on lock in the mainstream world. anything they drop, is mostly a success cuz of their name. 40's different cuz he's barely gettin introduced to the mainstream world. he needs to come wit a bang. U & dat will be a HUGE success & i'm guessing theyll go wit "white girl" on the next single to please all regions wit the mainstream features on it.

This is just an opinion from someone who has worked in Marketing at a major record label in the past 3 years.....of any song on the album, Whitegirl has the most mainstream appeal behind U and Dat....You have a rapper from New York, and 2 from Houston.....a lot of people feel Bun B and Pimp C right now, and Juelz has that Dipset and New York following which gets units no matter who they put out.....Dipset alone can push a freaking Hell Rell record and get 50,000 units sold with no promotion in the first week. 40's barely selling that right now last time i checked the soundscan....People, just think about it.....if you wanted to blow, would you want to push a song with you, around the way Bob, and your local hoodstar Jim......... or people that have moved units????

man they would even have to cut out most of the beginning of 40's verse.

I put the yola in the pot
let it simmer and bathe
add a little bakin soda
let it foam like after shave.

like they'll let that pass through airwaves. Catchy song though. I'm sure whatever 40 and WB execs do, they'll have a decent reason in doing so, but def cant wait for that U and Dat video.

i was just showing how record labels think GLOBALLY and don't care a damn about rappers selling locally....they wouldn't sign an artist if they didn't already have their own area locked up, so the labels don't even worry about that region.

i was actually at the U and Dat Video shoot last month and it is gonna be a lot more mainstream ready than Tell Me When To Go.......they shot it the day before the Lil Jon Snap Ya Fingers shoot and it was definately better than that one.......So if you think about it, 40 shot 2 videos in 2 days with 2 of the best video producers in the world(Little X-U and Dat, and Hype Williams-Snap Ya Fingers)......I'm sure he's gonna get the exposure he needs to give his album sales(currently just over 235,400) the boost that it needs.

maybe i dont know what im talkin about

but WHITE GIRL.. could never be a single... they gon edit every thing out.. they dont just go after cuss words and sexually explicit terms no more.. they go after metaphors and all that... they aint "hip-hop dumb" no more

and everybody has heard U N DAT already... in the south.. on the east coast etc... i think people would have already went and picked up my ghetto report card if they were gonna purchase it based on that song.. they all heard it.. its played all the time on radio & in the clubs and in the south.. NY doesnt fuck wit it too hard (as usual).. and most people who were finna get 40s cd out here in the bay.. already have

i just see 40s sales continuing to lower and lower weekly the way that they have... but shit never know

Not everyone hasheard U and Dat! Think about it some radio stations are just now adding Tell me when. U and Dat is Just bubbling and many people have not heard it. Most radio formats in the south are "Urban" and U and Dat is still new on the Rythmic Charts! Urban Radio is a lil slower to add a track like this. I'ma make a prediction and say U and Dat will be this summers "Goodies", "Damn!, Wait (The Wisper Song). I'm not worried I think 40 will do coo numbers 700k to 1.5mill if the rest of his album is marketed right. Think about Chamillionare, his sales dropped hella b4 ridin dirty got played.

Once again, Yay Area does have hella potential as a single!!! I'm outside of the Bay (in L.A.) and thas most peoples favorite track! my cuzzo in ATL says ne body who slaps the CD slaps that track the most!!!! If not a single then at the end of the video.
